There is some old info on this from attacks happening back in July. You can reasearh this on the Norton site and their forums. Have you tried using a different browser like Chrome or Firefox? If so, do you get the warning when closing out of them too? If not, maybe just checking to see if your home page in IE was set to one of those URLS or clearing your cache and cookies might help.
At this point, I'd say getting the warning is a good thing as it appears that Norton is blocking anything that might be trying to get in.

wow TOTALLY different results at my work. We tried dell and had 1 out of 5 out of box failures. with hp it is about 1 out of 25. we used the dell semi rugged and have had to have the screens replaced on 3/4 of the ones we purchased. bubbles started forming under the screen and then stuff started oozing out of the sides. Dell had us bag them and send in, they ran out of replacement screens and started replacing with a newer model laptop. Can't beat the dell semi rugged screens for outside visibility however. Also, dell tech support was horrendous. With dell we were also assigned a case manager who we had to go through for all our orders. didn't return calls, sent wrong stuff, wrong amounts. tried to get a different case manager, and finally gave up and we refuse to deal with them anymore. We laid down the law with management.dr.placebo wrote:

we are now an HP shop. quick accurate ordering, responsive tech support, quick resolution to issues. Their "business" laptops are out doing the semi-rugged other brands out in the field (utility business). only complaint would be screen visibility in full on sun.
wow, chatty today, sorry

Yeah, I am happy Snortin Norton is doing its job!!
cleared cookies, temp internet files.
Have set the Netgear router to log all traffic, so hopefully will see something that shouldn't be there. It is set to block all inward traffic (default) so I believe something on my pc is 'requesting' or going there. Have added the attacking site to banned site list also.

I'm having a hard time posting a funny picture in The Pier thread (i'm a techno dunce camparatively) the picture is hilarious and well worth the time to try to get it posted.
I have permisssion to use the picture and i think i need to set up a photo bucket account and post it from there, but i'm not exactly sure.
does anyone have suggestions? here or Pm is fine, I've been trying off and on for days (weeks!)
Thank you in advance, moon

you can't upload from your machine to here.
so, "Img" button, then the address for the hosted photo (ending in JPG, GIF, etc.) then, "Img" button again.
It should look like this:

So most of you know that I look up most of my answers. This one eludes me though. Some mates and I are working on a piece involving fire for BM 11'.
Flame effects are no problem for me what I am looking for are the guys on playa a few years back that had their flame effects timed using a laptop with various patterns on it.
Ill dig out some pics, but the project I am speaking of was based on Gas canisters in a cross pattern, with trash fencing around their bases to prevent injury. I was hoping to pick their brains about the software and interfaces they created. No sense in reinventing the wheel IMO

I wanna buy a Laptop
I wanna buy a laptop. Have no idea what to get. No laughing at my inexperience on the subject. I am a simple woman. A smart one, but simple. I do know I want wifi, a 15 inch screen and something fast. I have a computer already in the kitchen but I want a laptop with wifi so I can take it in my bedroom where I can relax and be comfy and warm. My daughter Sammi suggests an Ace or Toshiba. The only stores we have here in Ukiah are Balmart or Radio Shack. Santa Rosa is down the ways. There's always Amazon online, which was another suggestion of Sammi's. I've checked out laptops there, but it's all French to me, really. What do I know? That's why I'm here. I'm figuring on about $600 to spend, right? Muchas monkeyness.

USB Button & Webcam Mirror
I need a solidly built, illuminated USB button that, when pressed, yields a definable keypress to the computer to which it is connected. I also need some free webcam software that allows you to enable a mirror mode which can be paused and unpaused by hitting a key.

Normal typing garbles or comes out backwards.

Too bad that all the trees that have even been in the world, dropped into a gigantic pulping machine, still wouldn't be enough paper to build this roadway.FIGJAM wrote:Everyone knows what a gigabyte is, but I just heard of the yadabyte.

I have an old phone bell. The kind that is outside a phone.. For maybe outside to signal incoming calls.. It's heavy, about five plus pounds.. Can anyone tell me the voltage to make this thing work?? Or dose some one want it. Two sounds and kind of neat. No housing with lots of wires and terminla screws sticking out..

Unjohn,
I would love to have any bells I can get my hands on.
I use them for my alarm system.
There are two bell types for phones.
One uses direct power from the phone system.
The other uses an interface, which may or may not be part of it.
If yours is complete, and you have a land line, you just need to figure out how to hook it up.
It might be too loud for you?
I can recommend one I use, with great tone, not too overkill.
Itt Loud Bell, four or five inch bell.
Very clean ring because it is tuned with a spring, not a damper.
Three levels loudness.
Direct wired, very efficient, 1 Bell equivalent load or less, so you can use several.
Just hook to the phone line and go.
Great inside a house in an open area.

90 volt DC would fry this thing.. Might be wrong.. The prinnes phone had a transformer that pluged into 110 house juice.. That might have been just for the light.. Could add it to my trike for a little more Steampunking.. Or run off the coil toBob wrote:I thought POTS ringtone voltage was on the order of doorbell voltage, the wikipedia says different.
