seems reasonable. "the masses" can rise up, and will, if pushed far enough. And if armed (even with pitch forks and scythes), can overthrow a despot.

I'd submit, anyone thinking their voice counts much (short of knowing the politician personally), is deluded.
They speak the language of "money and power", the language of the capital.
They don't live in nor understand, or mostly care, about "us".
How do you know this? Have you ever really made an effort to let your representatives know how you feel personally on the issues? Did you visit the site I referenced? Or just dismiss it out of hand? How do you know it is dilusional unless you have been personally diluded?

I have a stack of personal letter replies from my representatives. I have requested and gotten their help with personal issues requiring intervention. So I really don't buy what you're trying to sell Ygmir. It's not always the wealthy donors that grab the ear of congress, sometimes it's that old greasy wheel that just demands attention.

We get the government we deserve. If people don't put in the effort, even in seemingly insurmountable odds, well...they have no business bitching and complaining about what they don't like.

That website I mentioned has the chance of being a new strong force for our democracy. It gives people an easy way to make their voices heard. To dismiss it out of hand is irresponsible at the least.

Writing to DiFi or BB get you nothing but their opinion in return. They couldn't give a shit less what I think. When I write to our Representative, I receive a letter which is obviously in response to my specific issue.

DiFi got her place in the sun, and has her current and most of her prior political career, because one elected official, took a firearm into the office of another elected official, and using said firearm in a highly uncivilized, brutal, and frlonious manner, not only killed said elected official but another one who was also in his office... and she was the first one on the scene of that brutal and senseless shooting committed by an elected official.

She used that as an opportunity to springboard herself into her present career, and has used the anti-gun hype in the media to keep her in that place. It was certainly tragic, but it was obvious at the time she was using that as her bully pulpit, and to this day continues to do so.

I suspect that she is anti-gun (and vociferiously so) not just because she was FOS of a double murder, but because it gains her a LOT of media attention which is useful to any elected politician. Otherwise she would have run out her time on the San Francisco City Council and.. I dunno... did something else. It is very, very unlikely she would have been elected to the US senate.

Anyway, you CAN write or call them, but their aides will tell you "thank you for your opinion, it has been noted, have a nice day"... CLICK. Or write you a similar form letter. Because if you think she'll give up all that she has to represent the People, vs her Career... well...

Does anyone (outside our local area) even Remember George Moscone or Dan White? (Yeah, Harv Milk is memorable, because they use him for a cause as well...)

(And yes, I have both written (snail mail) and called them over various issues - if it's something they're for, then you may get some commentary or whatnot, but if it's not, you get the Have a Nice Day letter.)

Doesn't matter, keep writing. If they get enough letters, they do listen. And if you write often enough, every once in awhile, rather than the customary form letter, you actually get a personal reply.

Sarah Brady is another tragic opportunist. Pushing her poor bobbleheaded husband (the guy is fucking helpless in her talons and I really feel for him) up and down K street and banging her drum to tell anyone who'll listen that their husband is NEXT.

If it wasn't so glaringly obvious that the majority of politicians suffering from anal-cranial inversion are in fact men, one would be tempted to ask "What's with the chicks?".

I got a new present today, quite unexpectedly. I wanted to show it off somewhere so I thought I'd interrupt your philosophical discussion with it.

1926 91/30 Never fired. Still has all the original tools and crap with it. Shoots the 7.62x54r round...

That's all I know about it, like I said, quite unexpected

Thanks Yg. Ammo's all over for it. Cheaper than dirt sells 440 rounds in a spam can for 95 bucks. I don't reload, don't get a chance to shoot often enough. Oh and this is also my first centerfire

1926...Seems there was many millions of these made by the end of WW2. They're apparently quite popular and in use in places. That's really cool imho

I've heard it's a good round. If it's like an 06, very versatile.
and, at 30 cal. you have a huge variety of projectiles, should you choose to reload.
IIRC, they go from around 70 gr. to 300 gr or so.

Mine is a Russian one, having trouble deciphering all of the markings on it right now as they seem to be contradictory. I'll take another look tomorrow methinks.

Russians invented it, but many countries made them till the end of WWII

That's a great first centerfire rifle. Ammo is affordable,
dropping the rifle will not ruin your day, and they look sharp.

Good round. LOUD.
It's the Russian .308 (7.62x51) equivalent with an
extra 3mm because they just love a good pissing contest.

In the early 1990's I had my 01 & 06 FFL's
to repair and sell guns and manufacture ammunition.
I lived 20 minutes from Century Int'l Arms. Yeah, I know.
I bought a case of ten for less than $500. After cosmoline
(or whatever the russians call theirs) was removed,
bores were punched, wood was refinished, and I'd
parkerized em I moved em out at $200 - $300 each
which was really a shitload back then for one of these.
3 of em I didn't do diddly to and moved em at $110.

If your going to put a lot of rounds through it get a slip on recoil pad or you will be black and blue.

I always play with myself after buying a new gun.

Sometimes even after I get to the range.

Seriously though, it's the best way to get to know your new weapon. Dry firing, stacking dimes on the barrel, even simple draw and reholster drills.
Dry firing is also a great way to break in your trigger smoothing the sear surfaces every time you drop the hammer. You don't require ammo, it's the affordable trigger job that can make you a better shot on that weapon.
Familiarity breeds competence.

Shoot it off the porch, take it to work, shoot it in the drive way.
Then start marking paper, burning brass, till I have a few hundred collected.

Then start working on loads.

I did an experiment years ago, putting a small amount of toothpaste on the internal working surfaces of my model 29 S&W, and dry firing ( I did put spent cases in it, just for the heck of it). It seemed to smooth things faster.........but then again, I didn't do a side by side, so, don't know how much better it worked.

Also, a fun thing was prime brass with magnum primers, and, punch them through a block of wax, to create a "wadcutter" round, for indoor practice.

Budget some time to shoot when you come over.

You never know.
You might find a burner with the odd gun, and most ranges rent anyway.

We just started coaching a girl that is about to take a very dangerous job, recession and all.
This was the second time she says she has touched a gun.
