12 2' rebar stakes obtained today. Currently trying to decide if I want to go ahead with the steel conduit tripods as a hammock support, or use 4x4 posts.

Just got back from a trip to Las Vegas, and found a steel shot glass with a carabiner welded to it at one of the tacky souvenir shops on the strip. Another item to add to my utility belt/fanny pack! (that I'm STILL anxiously awaiting to get in the mail... 2 months is a long time :( )

I got some centrifuge tubes a while back, 50 ml = 1.5 oz about? same as a shot. anyway, hacked some swivel snap hooks from another project, got a 99 cent plastic stained window ornament, appropriated the gelly kind of paint. daubed some dabs, sharpied them up a little after they dried. a little food safe silicone and what have I? I think I'd carry a shot of sweet espresso, or tiny schwag, or a little light perhaps.

Holy good god crap almighty on a biscuit, I got the most amazing package from DanusLight yesterday. I can't say what it is until I have pictures to do it justice, I just had to publicly say THANK YOU it's amazing.

I applied for two free-lancing jobs (writing) to try and make some money, and gathered up the rest of the CDs I still own, to sell for cash.

Also started updating my resume, to apply for a job with the BORG.

I have a couple of those. I got them to turn into hoodies/costumes, but I think I'm going to stuff it and let people ride it and get their picture taken instead.

I loved my fringed boots from the 70s, lost them to a friend of a friend who had them in the car and took off before I could get them.

For Raiders Night at the Booby Bar I'm going to have a BRC Family Circus book, the best captions will get assembled into a souvenir zine and mailed out post-BM.

Currently doing serious research into the best air mattress. The last 2 I've used at the Burn have sucked. I woke up every morning as the filling in a plastic taco. The little sleep that I get on the playa is so valuable that I feel that I have to maximize it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I also ordered 2 sweet hats. Cowboy beach hat with a beads and a 70's-ish wide-brim floppy hat. They'll go well with my purple bug-eye sunglasses.

If you're able to go beyond an air mattress: the cot below has been my best (inanimate) friend for the last 2 burns, and I'm looking forward to hanging out with it again. I love putting stuff underneath it. I note it holds 220 lbs, if that's relevant. Before you go to bed, make sure you've double-checked the angle of the outer ends; pulled the ends out all the way. Occasionally they can get nudged in a little when you knock around near it during the day. I've never been dumped on the ground in the night but I suppose it could happen (though not if you've got Rubbermaids that fit under like I do, which is a form of insurance).

http://www.rei.com/product/769019/liber ... olding-cot

Like almost everything at REI, it's slightly overpriced unless you have the member rebate (and they have cheaper cots available).

Military surplus stores might give you a better price, though they might be less likely to have models with a mattress.

Last year, I had similar issues with an air mattress, I think I had to pump more air into it three times over the 8 days. Not the end of the world but a PITA nonetheless.

This year I'm going with this. Check out the reviews, the price is right. I also like the idea of some predictable air between the playa and myself (other than when I'm floating along).

About the only downside I see is that it will take up a bit more room in the car.

Can't beat that combo of price and reviews.

I'm relieved my cot was a gift from a dear relative or I'd be especially cross it cost so much.

Wow....both of those look awesome. Flying in wil be the sticking point. Although, I could try and do a site to store purchase from Walmart. I'm desperate to kick the air mattress.

Google map the three Wal Marts in Reno, call them, check their hours (might be 24 hours). I've never done a site-to-store purchase but if they were willing to actually hold a cot for you, how cool would that be? Might be worth $43 for a week's improved sleep. It's a bit unwieldy for the plane but you could line up someone to gift it to at the end of the week. Maybe someone in DPW or a lengthy volunteer-after position would be pleased.

site to store (at Wlmrt) in Reno near The Atlantis forced me into a narrow window of time to pick my items up. I wonder how they'll perform around the burning man arrival period (lousy I fear) There is a new SUPER HUGE mally wart next to the GSR Grand Sierra Resort, I will go check it out soon. Maybe their site to store will be more helpful and not screw the order up (3 items came on three different rigid pick up dates!! wtf?!!) and force me to comply with the lame two week holding period (for each of the 3 items!!) a big hassle and not enough time for me to drive there and I live within an hour or so away!! YMMV

happier note...
I picked up a free, newer 12 volt battery today!! Maybe run extra strands of some reconditioned (by me) cool looking bamboo mini shades with it, if I can bring the battery back to life....a while back I accidentally drove over my charger though, soooo, probably add one of those to the back to big box auto shopping list in Reno...gulp (more $$?!!)

edited to add: Cabellas or other camping goods stores (Sierra Trading Post? Big 5? etc?) in Reno area would probably hold items for those flying in. Also, if careful/clever, I think it would be easy to re-box and ship gear back to your default home. Pre-label/pay before the burn, box it up with clear packing tape and ask someone you trust, to drop it off at a UPS on Monday thru Friday if leaving Sat/Sun. (Cabellas gear is costly! worth shipping home)
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!

Well....I purchased the Coleman Big Sky Camping Bed from Meijer online for $41. I think it will be worth the $25 baggage fee to bring the box with and then I'll take Moonrise's suggestion and ship it back to myself post-burn. Thanks so much for the help!

I found my Navy dive trunks and Coronado NAB (San Diego) tanktop.
I was excited, used to be my favorite getup.
They do not fit. 20yrs will do that.
So I mowed the front lawn wearing just my shades and a smile  .
I've never done that before.

Finally got the BF in gear and he ordered the LED programming unit for our nighttime LED clothing/costumes!

I also started sewing a bunch of things that need to be reconstructed.
