No Costco Carports this year?

Post by bigbluedoggy » Sun Jun 05, 2011 11:22 am

Has anyone had any luck locating the well known and used Costco Carports this year? I haven't been able to locate one at either the local stores or on their website. Did they not carry them this year?

The websites hardly ever have them, ususally have to go to the store and see.

I was just at Sam's........249 bucks, 12x20, all walls, windows, cable collar ties.
we accidentally hung a few hundred pounds from the framework, middle, top, and it held.

I think they're from "King canopy".

I just got the last one at my local Costco--the display model--for $195. It didn't really occur to me that they were this scarce.

The Reno costco off Plumb Lane had them last May 22nd, I think just under $200 and size: 10x20 with all the usuaul bells and whistles.

They have a bunch here in Chico....and Costco has a "Satisfaction Guarantee" so if you have an abused/damaged one, they replace it with a new one for nuthin'! Mine blew over and got all torqued up and they replaced it, sans receipt! They run ~$200.

None in LA :(

Post by DustyZ » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:44 pm

I just called multiple locations in LA and OC and they are not carrying them this year according to the person I spoke with :(. I will still continue the search, but in the mean time does anyone have a comparable one we might be able to find?

Thanks!

My shade structure is built with their joint fittings and tarps. Very robust and practical. They will customize,,, for a nominal fee of course,,,,

I cut my own pipe. The 1 3/8" is just top rail form chain link fence you can buy at any big box hardware store.

C&T.com sells all the fittings and tarps and canopies piece-meal so you can create your own too.

That's the bullshit from Costco. They will sell what they want, when they want, and only if they can make a maximum profit. No loss leaders in that store. That's why I expired my membership.

They are a fortune 500 company for a reason and take excellent care of their employees.

They are in business to make a profit, not hope you stick around and shop after buying the loss leader products.

They have limited floor space. Would you really expect them to sell winter clothes all year round? Their experience seems to indicate that people only buy carports in summer and now it is summer. So they are back on the shelves.

Just checked with Costco. There are some available in S. California.

The SKU for the carports is 496-840. I highly recommend you call ahead first, however as of today there were

38 at the Costco in Norwalk
20 (now 19) at the Costco in Alhambra
24 at the Costco in Montebello
