The first time I saw anyone get carded was 2009, my friends walked up to the bar asked for a drink and got carded, I went to the other end of the bar flirted with a pretty older lady, and she made me an amazing cocktail!
But last year most bars I went to carded, or atleast did the question method. you know where you and atleast one other person (from your camp as like a witness) ask the person their age, date of birth, are you a cop, etc... and would only serve if you answered quickly and didnt seem like you made it up. I dont know how well that would hold up against a cop giving you a ticket.
those tickets are expensive too! I was at a camp over around 245-3 and one of the bar tenders got busted for serving underage, the fine on the ticket was almost 1600 bucks! Way not worth it to even risk it.
My one thought on this would be, dont just do it in the wide open. My camps bar is always inside our bar/carport. All of the people Ive heard get busted, were usually seving from outdoor bars. The LEOs roaming around busting people need to film/personally view you serving the underage kid. or it could turn into a he said she said kinda thing. thats why having a second member of your camp their to back up your side of the story is always a good idea.
just my 2 cents on the subject! I think a $1600 fine would put a major bummer on my burn!
Just use your best judgement!
oh and if people get too drunk or come to you too drunk, just kick their asses to the curb! its never fun dealing with that guy!
if they cant hold their shit together, they dont need it anyways!
** I forgot to add this. I personally use an expired ID instead of the photo copied one. I just went down to the dmv told them I lost mine and got a new one. photocopies can get ruined by lots of things, Im not so sure on how much LEOs like photocopies because of how easy to photoshop a picture. but the plastic id card is pretty indestructable out there. just hole punch a hole in it, tie a string to it and attach it to yourself or bag.

Make no mistake, the LEOs are out there looking for burners serving minors. Last year a young lady came into BDC&WB asking for a glass of wine. I carded her. She said (and I swear I am not making this up), "Oh, I turn 21 tomorrow!" So I said come back then. She never did. I think if you serve someone who admits to not being quite 21, even by a day, you have a serious lack of judgment. This is exactly the sort of things LEOs would do to make their case for them. Be on guard always.
I won't accept a photocopy if you come to our bar, sorry - she can go to DMV, tell them she lost her license, and they will issue her a duplicate. Keep one safe, carry the other. Problem solved.lucky420 wrote:So a copy of your photo id will work for most bars out there? My daughter is 21 this year and will most likely be carded. Last year she wasn't 21 yet so out of respect and not wanting any hassle, we didn't visit any bars (just brought our own). A photo copy is a great idea in case she loses it...

That's why I'm going to card, plain and simple. Heck, if it were up to me people would get carded at the door and not allowed in! I mean, do sex camps card to make sure people are 18+? There'd be a fun LEO undercover job....
I laminate my photocopy. You can buy self-laminating sheets at WalMart. You just peel them open, stick the paper inside and voila.

I never use my own ID because it might get lost, so I use my brother's instead.

CFM i never called them stupid! I am a pacifist, and think that killing of any kind is wrong. I understand that it might be needed to stop extreme evil, but i will never be a part of it. I think that our service women and men are serving for reasons that are unacceptable to me. there is no extreme evil. during basic they are forced into sleep deprivation and reduced to being a part of a whole that i find wrong. they are not allowed to question their orders, and think for themselves about the places they go and why they go there. I have friends who used to be in the military and now have seen that what they were doing was not right. I am a pacifist and think that peace is the only way for the world to become a place where everyone is valued and not just used in the name of money or power. here is a quote from a long time ago...
(4) Fenner Brockway was sent to prison in 1916 for refusing to be conscripted. He was one of the most popular speakers at public meetings organised by pacifists during the First World War.
Every individual gives loyalty to something which counts more than anything else in life. In most men and women this supreme allegiance is inspired by national patriotism; if their Government becomes involved in a war it is a matter of course they will support it. The socialist conscientious objector has a group loyalty which is as powerful to him as the loyalty of the patriot for his nation. His group is composed of workers of all lands, the dispossessed, the victims of the present economic system, whether in peace or war.

A photocopy does not cut it. It has to be an actual state issued ID or passport. Anything else is not valid and will get you busted.lucky420 wrote:So a copy of your photo id will work for most bars out there? My daughter is 21 this year and will most likely be carded. As far as serving underage military at the bar.
NOPE, its the camps bar, I will not get the camp in trouble.
But, taking them over to my own cooler?
Its not a felony, I am a big boy and know the fine.
I have had to many nephews, and kids of friends who have served, not to share a beer with them. Would enjoy sharing a beer with any of them.
BUT this is just me, not the camp.
Your digging a hole here.CFM i never called them stupid!
Did someone hack your account? As far as serving underage military folk. fuck that1 if they were stupid enough to get tricked into being willing to kill others in the name of our country (big business) thats too bad for them!

more sage advice from Eric... " you just payed the stupid tax "
for me i am almost 40... and look it... i'd figure if someone is serious about me serving them booze they should be prepared to keep me and my camp out of harms way and prove they are old enough to drink.. my days of thumbing my nose at "the man" are over... i am more " yes sir, no sir, can i leave now sir "
on a related note i hear Somlia is nice this time of year....

I apologize, i did call them stupid what i meant is that they were stupid to enroll and not that they were stupid people. I just think that our military is ridiculous and that many times we get involved in incidents we shouldn't. I think all war is wrong, and i think that peace and peaceful reconciliation of problems is the only way our world will work. I think that people who volunteer for the military are being taken advantage of, and until our foreign policy changes they should think long and hard about volunteering. and no i wasn't hacked i just think that people should be held accountable for their actions, and deciding to go and kill people for whatever reason is a wrong choice. people know what they are going to be asked to do before they enroll, and i wish they would not be willing to kill others for whatever reason!

Not to derail a purfectly good topic some more but since we are vocalizing our personal beliefs.
I think that the ideas of pacifism and anarchy are great on paper but they won't work in real life, ever.
Without some sort of referee, the more powerful will take advantage of the weak. That are why governments and the military exist.
I'm not saying what our country is doing is the best path, I'm not even saying we are the good guys. I'm saying these are necessary for a civil society where you can voice your opinons and make changes if you feel strong enough about it.
Sometimes violence is the answer, and I feel that it is only people who feel incapable of defending themselves who think that it is never justified.
I consider myself to be a packafist.

If you show up at BDC&WineB and try to suck off the public trough, suggest it to say that the Burning Man experience won't necessarily be as wonderous as you might imagine.
I mean, come on, why would you consciously try to get people busted, though not your intention? I don't wish to be judgemental, but you sir, are a dick.

Exactly my thoughts as well. First little idiot that tries that will find themselves dragged to the LEOs to spend the rest of their burn trying to explain while in jail.Dr. Pyro wrote:If you show up at BDC&WineB and try to suck off the public trough, suggest it to say that the Burning Man experience won't necessarily be as wonderous as you might imagine.

This is a Public Service Announcement, really. It's a timely reminder that Sneaky Little Mofos will try to saddle your ass with a $1600 fine just for kicks, in exchange for your kindness & generosity. I'm glad to see there are folks who will make an example of him with passing LEOs.I'm only 20 and I will not be 21 when the burn comes around. But I'm pretty damn sure that getting alcohol is not going to be a problem for me. LOL.
I also note it's his first post, meaning he's either a troll, or this is the first and most important thing he can think of to say, which . . . actually sort of makes him a troll anyway.

And if he were going to call him self a Frat boy, he probably would have spelled it right.
Unless, he wanted it spelled phonetically so that the reader would pronounce it like Flava-Flav.
Or it is someones 'sock' (just recently learned the term and glad to finally use it) and they are trying to make the point that there are Frat boys out there that will be trying to get drinks from bars.
