so much BACON!
oh jesus fuck. Did the grocery shopping for the week @ Fresh n Easy and bought my favorite bacon.. their applewood smoked. I've NEVER had a problem with exp. dates. Until today. Both packs expire TODAY.
AAaaah!!!.. So I guess this is good practice for a massive fry up on the Playa, because I just finished frying up one pound - imna move onto the next in a few minutes. My Husband and I are gonna have bacon ALL WEEK! YAY!! I even went and started up a batch of BACON VODKA... which will be good practice for the burn too.
anyhoo - ain't complaining.. was just hoping to be able to stretch the 2 pounds.. OH WELL!
BACON UP or go HOME!

You could have frozen it.
That dates is the 'sell (or freeze) by' date. The expiration date is usually several days after. Once frozen it will keep a long time.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

You're not going to get sick. As jkisha mentioned, it's probably the sell-by date. Sell-by dates are for reference only and even the stores aren't required to abide by them. Even use-by dates are merely the recommended date before which the product is at optimal quality; it implies nothing about when a product is rancid.
Considering that bacon is loaded with salts, cured and smoked, vacuum-sealed, kept refrigerated, and is ultimately cooked at high temperatures you'll be fine. Properly refrigerated (not even frozen), I'd say you have at least a month to use it with no ill effects, even flavor-wise. Freezing the meat will essentially place the meat in a stasis, making it good almost indefinitely. Don't waste, or rush-eat, a side of fine applewood-smoked bacon just because of that date on the side of the package.

sure - was super easy.. all I did was fry up the bacon. I then added 3 strips to a pickle jar and then poured the vodka over it... and put it in the fridge. You don't have to use the pickle jar you can shove 'em in a whole bottle of vodka if you want. I just used it because I didn't wanna waste an entire bottle of it, in case it turned out bad.Mojojita wrote:Willing to share your recipe?Bexx wrote:and the bacon vodka is a win!!!! wow! all it takes is just a day. I'm having a Bacon Martini right now!

If you watch TLC's new hit show 'WTF!' I'm doing a special that should air on August 29th.
But I will say, it takes lots of tweezers and a big magnifying glass!
