from the East (coast) to the West (coast)

Hi there.

This will be Burning Man #3 for me, and my first working with an actual BRC department! I'm so excited!

I live in Providence, RI and just bought a big pickup truck and was thinking of hauling a trailer across the country in mid July as I need to drop off some things and my pet giant rabbit at a friend's in Los Angeles by the end of July.

I was wondering if anyone in the New England area would be willing to help me out with a bit of gas money in order to haul their stuff out to BRC for them so they could later just fly across country with just a carry-on bag (and get a rideshare from the Bay Area or Reno or something).
I did this last year with someone else and after The Burn I just UPSed my tent, gear, (minus the camping stove fuel which I just donated) etc. back home (from a UPS station near the airport of the rideshare I took back). It worked out great.

I don't know if this is the right forum to post such a topic, but I have noticed that the rideshare form on the actual website for 2011 has not yet been activated.
Is there a forum for cargoshare?

Thanks for your help.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome to eplaya!
Its my third year too!

And oddly we're trying to get other folks in Denver to pitch on a box truck to help defer some of the cost.
My only thought, is that as soon as people start paying you to transport stuff across state lines, is there anything sorta regulation that is being broken?
For that reason we're not sure if we want people to 'pay us' or 'help us afford'

How big is your giant rabbit?
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

I think "help us afford" is the better option.
You can't transport anything illegal over state lines. (Whether you do anyway is between you and your conscious) That being said, one time I "accidentally" drove across the Golden Gate bridge with 36 lbs of gunpowder in my trunk.

My rabbit is now 15 lbs.
He's a local Providence star:

Holy shit! That rabbit is huge!
Is it part kangaroo or something? When the guy first carries it out, I didn't think it was a rabbit. Is it typical for pet rabbits to get that big?

Yeah we're thinking 'help us afford, and we'll help you transport' is gonna be our line. We're also thinking we have folks, sign some sorta document that says 'this crap in this container belongs to So'n'So Handcock' or something.

Are you not allowed to have gun powder on bridges? Or just the golden gate bridge?

He's half Flemish Giant and half Japanese Harlequin.
