Friends of mine observed that in July 1998, in hot dry weather. They were camped near the west side road, up near the 1996 bunringman site, and the wet spot at the terminus of the Quinn River advanced a couple miles westward overnight, almost flooding their campsite. They guessed it might have been due to afternoon snowmelt upriver.

I just walk to the open playa, with my back to the man, and look at how far it goes!

If you search Black Rock City in google earth. Then follow the path from Highway 34 you can see the rings from years past.
