Snagged another pair of cowboy boots at my favourite thrift store boutique. They were a little pricy at $18, but then I looked up the brand name and discovered that brand new they retail for over $200! Pretty good for snazzy leather and imitation snakeskin that fits like a glove :D

$18 is not pricy if they're comfortable. :)

No definitely not, I hope they do my feet good and last my a long time. I just typically budget myself at thrift shops to no more than $10 per item, since things seem to add up so quickly...I actually put a few things back on the shelves to counteract this purchase. :P

I sewed a large hook and eye onto my thrift store fur coat so it closes. One good thing about the freezing "summer" we've been having is that it reminds me to not neglect the freezing nights in the desert. The regionals out here have been freaking cold!
If you think you've overdone it, double it.

While looking for zip ties I found these reusable velcro ties. Cost a little more but I think the not needed a sharp object to remove and the reduction in MOOP is worth it :)

I got a WalMart brand air mattress with a built-in pump, I love it. If it needs some air I can just flick the switch while I brush my teeth. It's been through....gosh, I don't even know how many burns, now. I have a queen and a single.

Image

I tried that out, thought it was uncomfortable. But, aggravatingly, I have a bad back and need something good to sleep on.

I did some massive cleaning the past few days. Emptied nearly ten full bags and a couple of boxes out of my sewing room. Got started on laserfox's skirt, got the last pieces I need for one of Trish's items.

Made some stickers for Raiders night.

I've considered those but was always worried about the quality since it is Walmart brand...may reconsider after your rave review :D

I grabbed a $20 walmart airbed in Reno on my way to last year's burn and it's actually pretty good, I've used it camping a couple times since.

It's not the one with the built in pump though, I just use my battery powered pump from one of my other long since dead airbeds.

Really, SO much stuff is all the same, just higher prices for different brands.

And, for the more reasonable price, if something does happen to it it's not a casuality, like a $200 aerobed.

Got an MSA Optimair MM2K respirator. Has a motorized air pump. No more wasted energy on breathing. Open mouth and fill lungs. Got ti to sand the inside of the fiberglass camp trailer and to spray glue new insulation & carpet without destroying what's left of the ol' brain.
It'll be nice on the playa too. It's OSHA rated for patchouli.

You can just buy some foam padding from a craft store. Thermarest air pads are comparable.

I've used on of these flat as a cot with a thermarest on top. It wasn't a plan, just worked out that I needed a bed. worked fine. I use one of these for my shade napping.

Thank you Elorrum!
I keep forgetting about a shade napping arrangement.
That there is a fine arrangement.

If you end up like me, shade napping will be about the only sleeping. I take a bed more out of theory (and its already attached to the RV).
I really like hammocks for day time napping!
That reminds me, I haven't checked craigslist for hammocks yet today.

I repaired my favorite backpack for burning man; a goofy weird black cloth backpack with fabric "spikes". I wanted to reinforce the area the top of the straps attaches to and since I was doing that I decided to add some purple fur there as well. :D

It's really goofy looking, but great for burning man.

I made reservations for pre-gate opening and post burn nights at the Eldorado.

Finally found an appropriate water/dust/everything proof bag for my camera that I can take pics through without worrying about the dust ruining my camera at the burn. Last year I searched high and low for one and couldn't find it... now they're EVERYWHERE! It will be tested on next week's camping trip.

I bought a similar bag on amazon to go to Jamaica 2 years ago and I LOVE it. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Is that a digital point n shoot or something else? I've been thinking that I probably need a cover like that.

I use it with my digital point and shoot and have taken it diving down to at least 30 feet with no issues.

I'm using it for a point n' shoot. They have another point n' shit bag that doesn't have the hard lens (just the clear rubber), but I tested it at the store and it interfered with my camera turning on (the lens is always extended on mine). They also make larger bags with longer/larger lens cavities for the bigger cameras like SLRs, so you can be like this dude on their website nonchalantly strolling through a waterfall with a $4000 camera....
