Hello!

Post by Jax Dee » Sat Jun 11, 2011 11:57 pm

Hi all,

I'm attending for my third time this year (went in 2008 and 2009). I camp with the Midnight Ridazz and currently live in Virginia.

I have recently had health issues that have led to me leaving my job and being on disability. Rather that look at this as a negative and get down on myself I am trying to see all the positive things I can do with my new found free time.

I am getting back into my passion of creating art work and I am getting to come to Burning Man this year when I thought I wouldn't be able to. I am hoping with getting back into my art and having the free time I might even be able to bring my artwork to Burning Man 2012.

Anyone who has advice for an artist aiming to contribut to Burning Man next year would be appreciated. And I hope to get to meet some of you this year on the playa in 2011!

-Jax

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome Jax!
I was laid off last year and thus been given an opportunity to attend.
The Man and ePlaya have inspired me to create again. It is inspiring to have a goal to build towards and sharing ideas or posting photos of progress is infectious. Some will see them and say 'that's beautiful' while others will say 'say, that gives me an idea...'

Hi Jax Dee

I'm from VA too this year will be my first burn and I hope to have some ceramic pinhole cameras to take with me. Nice to make your acquaintance!

Jax Dee, consider volunteering to help on an art project this year, you may learn a lot of practical details that will help you when you are ready to bring your own art.

Rabbette - I haven't gotten much beyond thinking I want to contribute. I know that going as a disabled person and every year having people be surprised at how well I manage on the playa has made me want to do something that represents the disabled community.

Ugly Dougly - Great idea! I've already sent in a volunteer form but I will follow up on the playa and see if any artists need another hand.

I'm so excited for this year! Now I just need to find someone to drive out with me :) I hate driving alone.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm already on it! Just haven't found anyone yet. Still got two months so no rush.

Welcome, Jax! Next year will be my first burn (how's that for planning ahead?), but thanks to AntiM's Home for Wayward Art a little art will make it to the playa in my stead....living vicariously this year! What form does your art take? I think you'll find eplaya to be full of creative inspiration and friendly folks!
Blessings!

Hey it never hurts to be prepared! I mostly draw or paint, but occasionally the sculpting bug takes me over. Usually organic pieces based on nature or interesting vintage fabric I find.
