A long way to get home from home
Hi everyone!
Its a nice hot day here in VA 93 where I'm at, and just did a test run with my honey building our Monkey Hut (hopefully putting bunny ears on it for a bunny hut) for BM. First thing we both did when we decided to take on this adventure this year, being first timers an all, is read through the survival guide and have been regular stalkers on the message boards.
As for anything else of weird interest I've been brushing up on my ASL so if there are any Deaf burners out there I'd be happy to sign with you if you don't mind that I'm a bit slow since I've been out of practice for a bit.
I love pinhole photography and make ceramic pinhole cameras. I'm hoping to bring a small one with me to grab some shots on the Playa of the wonderful artwork, sculptures and maybe some people if they let me. I'm very excited to meet and great with the rest of you guys!
Hot and happy in VA,
Rabbette

Welcome aboard, Rabbette!
There is a group who has been doing pinhole photography on a large scale for years. Last I noticed them, they were around Center Camp. They use large cardboard barrels for cameras.
Perhaps you might check in with Emergency Services when you arrive, in case they ever need a translator? Cell phones can not be expected to work out there, but perhaps they have a pager that would work?
Thanks Elliot
woah barrels huh... I scaled down my ceramic cameras to nearly match box size - I was nervous about trying to carry something glass all over the place with me to take photos - especially thinking about the winds. I'll have to look and see if they would get a kick out of very small scale pinhole (since I'm driving all the way from VA and space/weight being an issue) I figured small would be the way to go this time around. LOVE the barrel size cardboard ideas tho - I'll have to hunt them down and check'em out.
oh and thanks for the ES tip - I didn't think about the opportunity to be a translator to help out in that kind of situation, but that sounds like a really nice thing I would like to do.
