Camping on the way to brc from Southern Calif.: pre event.
I'm driving up the 395 from the L.A. area and would like to camp out on saturday night pre event. Any ideas on a camp ground?

Would love get at least 300 to 350 miles from L.A. I tried to use the search function here on eplaya , but had no luck.... I am open to any any suggestion, trying to make the drive more enjoyable. Last year we did in one shot and it was way too long....

US 395 has an unlimited number of places to stop for rest. You can pay from $0 to $$$$...$0 means finding a place to pull over safely off the road.
I once pulled over on one of the side roads near Manzanar (about 250 miles from LA) at 2 AM and had a good night's rest, proceeded into Big Pine for breakfast and continued on.
Any of the small towns along the way are great...Big Pine, Lone Pine, Bishop, Mammoth Lakes (soak at Hot Creek just East of 395, no camping), Lee Vining, Bridgeport...take yer pick!

Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

Chris Flat, Bootleg in the Bridgeport District are on Hwy 395.
These are standard forest service campgrounds.
Water, vault toilets, fire pit.
Topaz Lake County Park on the CA/NV border has RV hookups if you need them, as well as pretty much unlimited tent space. There is a gas station/store, motel and casino on the lake
