Coming to Burning Man from Hawaii. Need Carpool and Camp???
Hello fellow Burners my name is Dan. I currently live in Maui, HI. I love traveling and making new friends. I am going to Burning Man for the first time this year by myself and was hoping to meet some awesome people to travel with and camp with. I have some friends in Reno that I was thinking of staying with for a night or two before Burning Man. My friends do not plan to go so I am trying to find some people to car pool with and camp with. I am coming from Hawaii so I will be traveling light and plan to help/contribute in any way I can. I have not bought my plane ticket yet so I can fly into a different city than Reno if its easier for the ride I am carpooling with. Also since I am by myself I am also looking for a Tent/RV I can crash in/Tent I can Borrow and just in general a campsite I can join. I am a pretty good cook and do not mind helping plan a menu/cooking, but I can also contribute in other ways as well. One of the main reasons I am drawn to Burning Man is the sense of community and I cannot wait to experience it first hand. If anyone has a seat open in their car or a place I can camp get in touch with me on here or on my cell 843-333-1713 call or shoot me a text. I want to set up some plans so I can get my plane ticket soon and get the ball rolling.

Hi Dan! Welcome.
Be ready to at least buy a cheap tent just in case (and at the end of the event, ship it, gift it or whatever) as plenty of camps have shade or showers or shared food, but the line in the dust is usually drawn somewhere. For example, Green Tortoise San Francisco (google it if you're interested) supplies food, water, shade, & transport from SF, but makes burners bring a tent and other supplies.
There are Hawaiian burners, join their mailing lists and find out how they do things:

And read the Survival Guide (16 printable pages, or 22 links) or risk a nasty death. Well, technically, as your ticket will tell you, you risk it anyway.

At the moment, we have two spare spaces in our Rental RV going from LA on the Saturday and early entry on the sunday to setup in our camp - we are with T'gon @ 3.00 and Esplanade.. This is due to some of our mates over here not being able to make it to the festival because of financial constraints...
You would need to be able to comit to paying your share of the RV rental, fuel from LA and back, camp fees and proving you have a ticket before you get to the site. (currently, if we have 4 people in the RV, it will cost $450 approx each for the 10 day rental excluding fuel and any generator use fees - but will include all bedding, pots pans, plates etc etc)
Sorry this sounds a bit draconian, but I won't stand anyone who won't pull their weight. There will also be a 'clean as you go' rota with the RV, as it will need to be clean when handed back to Road Bear in LA on the Wednesday after the burn, save us forfieting a $500 cleaning deposit.

I suggest you take a pro-rated share of the cleaning deposit up front and return it when you get it back from Road Bear.

Hi Unity,
My camp is Liver's End, and one of our campmates is flying in to Reno and driving a rental to Black Rock City. But he's not arriving till Wed or Thurs. Then you could camp with Liver's End (a bar), but would still have to make your own tent accomodations as well as food for the most part.
Respond if you're interested.
