I'm currently in Chico, CA, but I'm also from the San Bernardino Mountains, Florida, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
I plan on entering solo with a blank slate. May BM paint it what it will! As far as self sufficiency I should be fine (I'm a pretty avid backpacker/camper). My challenge will be letting myself reach out to others. I tend to be a bit shy and I hope that won't get in the way of meeting amazing people.
I hope to bring the gift of spice (hail the "Marco Polo Spice Wagon" if you need some curry, salt, jerk, parsley, etc...) and a mean Navajo flute.
See you there!
Welcome!
I'm kinda shy myself but I think it's not going to be a problem there.
It can take a bit of self cajoling but the payoff is superb.
Get to know the folks here then meet up with em at the burn.
Make friends with your neighbors. Ask for help even if you don't need it (I can set up the tent myself, but...).
Have fun!

Oh so it's not just me? Yeah that gif sucks me in every time I am trying to read a post. Very cool mudpuppy000!StandingLenticular wrote:Gotta say, I'm trying to read through the threads and get some information, but that hoola-hoop signature catches me like spinny noise makers catch an ADD 10 year old.

Hi StandingLenticular! There was a whole thread in the Q&A forum that evolved into people revealing their shy streaks.
This will be a great place to push yourself socially, because people at the Burn (on the whole) are pretty darn friendly.
Just introduce yourself to your neighbors (prevents boundary problems and generates some mutual neighborhood watch type stuff) and venture out in the daytime in particular.
I'm actually kind of reserved too, but Burning Man is one of the things I employ to beat the tendency back a bit.
