Parasol Idea
I'm thinking of using a few of these to craft a parasol of sorts. The best way I can describe it is a mylar covered bubble packing bag of sorts. Thoughts?

Cool, I want to see it! I love parasols, but don't find them appealing on the playa. Probably because they smack into my BASH. (big ass shade hat).
I used a quaint embroidered and lace parasol in Japan every summer for years and years. It takes time to learn when to put them up and down, best angle of shade, where to stash them so your hands will not be full, and how to use them as a flirtation device.

If that's the size of a manila envelope, seems like it would be ideal for manila envelopes.

The bags are 13x16.5. Is that the size of a manila envelope?
AntiM, thanks for the idea. Now I will just have to make it bigger than the largest hat I have.
lucky420, pics will be forthcoming ... eventually

Manila envelopes come in multiple sizes. 9 by 12 is quite common, as it holds a good stack of 8.5 by 11 paper. But I bet graidawg can tell us wild stories of the manila envelopes that hold paper size A.DanusLight wrote:...Bob wrote:If that's the size of a manila envelope, seems like it would be ideal for manila envelopes.

Just seems cumbersome, staple those into a parasol and it's not likely to fold. Unless you make something from scratch. Or something.

Or just cut it in one piece from a solar pool cover which appears to be the same material.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

What about using Reflectix in bigger pieces? unless you already have a bunch of the envelope type things.

I have a BUNCH of them. My first thought was to cover the rental in them. Still might. I have no idea where the parasol idea came from *shrug*Rabbette wrote:What about using Reflectix in bigger pieces? unless you already have a bunch of the envelope type things.
