God I hate "professional" artists like you. You seem to think that your framed piece of paper (Mighty Fine Asswiper) elevates you above all other artists not only at the burn but in the default world as well. You presume to show up with your art and create your piece de resistance. You might just end up with shitty photos that are half dust mote and half drunk guys in tutu's.
What happens then? Demand your money back due to your not receiving a value added experience.
Who the fuck pays enough money for one of your 'limited edition' photos? What the fuck does limited even mean these days. I assume from your legalist nitpicking approach that your definition would be something akin to a limit of one copy per customer instead of one of one.
Seriously, you think BM photos are going to finance your artist's lifestyle?

Your expectations of the extension of 'professional artists rights' to you have no basis in reality. Your possesiveness of the 'art' you intend to 'create' really smacks folks as profiteering. We DON'T like that.

Take the damned hints. If you keep getting responses to communicate with the org, fuck, do it. People tell you something won't fly, repeatedly, but you continue to argue as if you are going to convince us that we're wrong, then you've earned all the fuck you's that you can eat. The rest will be rectally inserted. Call it art.

...it does sound like you plan to make money from the photographs you take, which sounds like a form of commerce, which is kind of a sensitive subject around here.

Oh, and Eplaya is not the Playa, and has nothing to do with how Burning Man is run - this is just a place for E-kooks to hang out and brag about flaming penises and such...most Burners don't even post or read here.

So let's consider if we allowed people to commercially exploit BM. I feel that participants in BM are not simply an audience, but actors in the event itself, and any commercial exploitation must negotiate with each and every independent actor in the event for licensing fees, distribution rights, royalties, etc. You don't visit a circus and get off selling videos of the circus right? You have to negotiate with the true content creators (and no, just because you have a copy on your flash media/film doesn't mean the content you recorded is yours). The same thing when you visit a gallery; you can't bring your camera in there and start taking shots, and certainly not to sell them.

Having the event's media right controlled by BMorg centralizes the media rights process, and relinquishes said media rights to them. Sure, it sounds very anti-rights, but just as BMOrg is needed to ensure an event this size doesn't get shut down for permit violations, so does it also maintain copyright and media rights, as well as a centralized organization to defend them. It's much like how Disney actually controls media rights to photos and media taken within its parks. In the case of both BM and Disneyland, the rules are lax for most usage because most people attend the event for the experience, not for commercial exploitation. Still, Disney Corp won't, for example, allow Mickey to be photographed so someone can go and sell photos of Mickey. That is a violation of copyright and the terms of service. You'd need an agreement with Disney or you could be sued for copyright violations.

I had second thoughts after posting that little love poem. They dissipated rather quickly though.
I, as a rule, am not a hater or profane pontificator but homeslice there really pushed my button with his obstinate refusal to get a clue.
It reminded me of the Phish camp thread where the OP, after being served manageable portions of snark kept insisting how great phish is. It was soapbox activism gone totally awry.

It could! It sounds like I saw something in the Playa Calender when perusing it about a Warrior game where people are going to wear bandannas in their team's colors and run around the city hunting each other with squirt guns.
