Bonjour! Friendly neighbourhood mailman reporting for duty.

Post by snoozeberry » Wed Jun 22, 2011 9:49 pm

Hello all,

My name is James, and I am a burning man virgin who is eagerly waiting to have my playa cherry popped.

For my gift, I thought it would be beneficial to volunteer as a courier for the mail service that I have heard of by word of mouth. I see that it is not in the volunteering information. Could someone help me out with some direction on this?

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome to eplaya! You should have gone when the disgruntled postal workers were on the drive by shooting range.

Hi Snoozeberry!

Try
volunteers(at)burningman(dot)com

to see if anyone knows. Or, contact

playainfo(at)burningman(dot)com

or visit Playa Info at Center Camp once you arrive (as I'm not sure postal carriers have to register pre-playa). Playa Info has a camp directory. It's also a good way to find people or be found by friends, if you note your address carefully to a multiple of 5 or 10 (like 7:55 and D street) and submit it there.

Oh the hopes the title of this thread brewed within me.

Haven't had mail service here in frenchy-land-'o-Canada for some time now.... I keep going to the mailbox.... hoping.... but it's still always empty. Why, Oh Why did they need to strike when I have so many things to send and receive thru the system??????

Mail service out there sounds like it'd be a blast. Hope you get your gig!!!

And...... WELCOME, btw!

I really wanted to do it last year, but some things went wrong in our camp that needed my undivided attention.

The BRCPO is a theme camp, not something put together by the llc. So to find it on the main website, you should look in the 2010 theme camp list (or the 2011, when it's posted), not in the volunteering section of that site.

I feel your pain. I'm in Canada as well and I sent off my passport renewal the day before the rotating strikes. They still haven't received it!

Sorry to anyone who thinks I'm a real postal worker. Im just a chemist who wishes to be a mailman for burning man.

Thanks for all the advice, I've found a few places I might hook up with as a courier. Hopefully you will catch me riding my bike with vindiction as I deliver mail and assorted packages across the playa!

Welcome snoozeberry.

To enable quoting and stuff go to Profile (up there ^), scroll down to preferences and check the "Always allow BBCode" box.

One of my preferred descriptions of burning man: Remember when you were a kid and you played house? Now you're a grown up and you play city.

So, yeah, you get to play mailman...
