A Party Place

Post by Trishntek » Wed Jun 22, 2011 6:12 pm

Some of you are aware of our little project of creating a 24/7 Retrofrolic here in Ventura. A question we pose to all of you,,,,,

If you are attending a party, in a place nothing more than a simple 1200 sq. ft. apartment, would your rather, upon entrance, enter a large boardroom table (something stout enough to fuck on) surrounded by a dozen chairs? This would be the service table for buffet-type gatherings.

Or would you rather be in a living room kind of environment with couch, cocktail table and a couple of easy chairs?

Mind you, in both cases, this is a sensually-charged kind of party place. There is a rather large play space in the double garage/dungeon.

I voted living room. Gives people more options to move aroun and mingle. If there's just one big table then everybody's stuck in one place. And if people are fucking on it, and you don't want to sit there and watch, you're stuck.

Well it would be the main socializing/refreshment area. The actual scene area would be in the next room. The table is sufficiently robust, but not primarily used for that purpose.

Thanks for the input!

Tough call!
Is the back room only for playing? Or is there sort of a bar back for people to mingle?
Is the first room you enter 1,200SqFt? or the whole apartment?

Do folks at your parties already know each other? Or do strangers need to meet get to know each other, before getting naked?

I voted dining table. Because it would be nice to hang out and chat, with out having to get up to go across the room to possibly interrupt someones conversation.

Possibly a lounge style room, with a small wet bar. A nook type table, and some couches and a coffee table. Remember the coffee table needs to be strong enough for 1 or 2 girls to dance on! Sturdy wood, none of that glass top bull shit!

Sometimes I wish I were into this. I could build some incredible stuff with wood and iron. I'd subcontract the stonework to Yiggy...
I didn't see it listed but I'd vote for living room - pommel horse - bigscreen with Disney movies.

What? Guys aren't allowed to dance on tables! Thats socially and morally wrong!

I didn't mean to be gender specific. I'm just more used to girls readily hopping up on tables and shaking their groove thang/ bumpen'n'grinden than most guys.

Yeah,,,, well,,,,, ummmm  Make sure and tell Trish not to allow certain men to dance on tables.

We are talking a pretty basic place where you enter into, what would be traditionally, the living room. In the adjacent kitchen, there is a small area for a kitchen table and very little counter space. The play area is an attached double garage. So the socializing area is either more for relaxed socializing (living room) or more of a dining room. There is simply not enough room for both.

I just know that people tend to congregate where the refreshments are. Thus far, it would seem most folks prefer to be in living room environment and deal with holding their drink and food rather than sit at a table.

Yeah. You could always put a little snack table in the nook type area?

Is there a bedroom in the place? I'm assuming that will either be storage or another play area?

Can always get end tables for a drink holders.

When you and your *friends* get together do you eat dinner or just have some munchies?

To add.
We typically put our food in one place, and the drinks in another (food on a table, drinks in the kitchen). That way people are constantly getting up moving around and socializing. Doesn't make it awkward to 'accidentally' bump into someone and start chatting.

Two bedrooms and a bathroom,,,, one bedroom will be a,,,,, bedroom!

The other bedroom will be more of a "fetish" room.

You are right about the mingling aspect which is inspired by "getting more of,,,,"

Thanks for pointing that out! Looking forward to more input.

Or put food and drinks in both. Canapes in the living room, meatballs in the playroom.

Another thought dawned on me.
Is there a place for people to smoke cigarettes or what ever they like, with out having to put their clothes back on?
It sucks having to get dressed every time you wanna smoke. Or the alternative, go out side naked when its cold.

Board room, just to be different.
If Retrofrolic is like Burning Man, every party is set up like a living room. (Stifling a yawn...)

There is a patio area which will be enclosed with some of our shade structure to keep curious neighbors from odd entertainment. Sometime down the road a hot tub may be incorporated. But that would be the place for smoking. We will have a patio fire pit out there as well.

Yeah, I am sure the culture is different where you live, but around here last year a guy was arrested on "public indecency" charges for being naked in his own kitchen, making coffee, at 5:30 in the morning.

Yeah, I would bet anything Ventura, California has very little in common with Washington, D.C. Case in point, how many surfboard shops are in D.C.?

edit to add: People walk downtown in bathing suits regularly and anything more than sandals, T-shirt and shorts are considered "dressing up".

A boardroom is only sexy if it's a real boardroom, and you're implicitly not supposed to be there. :) Also, while I'm designing this in my head, it should look like something out of The Hudsucker Proxy or The Devil's Advocate.

In most cases, if I were to walk into a party and be confronted with a boardroom table, I'd start thinking of everything I have left to do at work . . .

A cozy living room party is a cliché for a reason. :)

I'd say living room TnT.

BTW, can you take a stroll up the road and check on my mom? She lives only a mile or so from you two, haha, she's cool too...but anyway, perhaps the next time I visit the fam down there in Ventura, I'll drop on by for some drinks.

Unfortunately, there is a two-story house about 10 feet on the other side of the six-foot fence. So not only is there a visual issue, but a noise issue as well. I don't claim it to be the ideal party place. But it is available and attached to our home. That makes it quite convenient! Our patio is very private. The party place has the adjacent garage,,,, we don't. So there are plus's and then there are less plus's.

Moonrise! Yes! Please let us know when you're in the neighborhood!

We have settled on the livingroom setting. And now as the pole comes to an end, I can tell you the boardroom was my idea and the livingroom was Trish's idea. She doesn't want me to paint the walls pink either,,,,, sighhhhh. Can you believe she doesn't even want our Retrofrolic signs and flags on the walls?? Sheeeesh! She says, "It's gotta have some class." I guess Retrofrolic will be there in spirit only,,,,, ohhhh welllll!

Well, luckily, Trishntek is talking about a home-based party in an apartment . . .

I know what you're saying though. There's a reason I bring folding chairs.
