Birgin coming from Santa Teresa, Costa Rica...
Hi All,
After 15 years of wanting to come to the Burn, I'm finally able to do it this year (work would never permit before ~ seasonal issue~ but now I have my own business and, well... ).
I have reserved an RV and am hoping to find a few to share it with.. I posted on Rideshare and did get one reply but still have space for two more- 3 max. Also, Rideshare seems to have many many posts from the 2010 burn but not much for 2011.
I don't really care where I/we camp but I do love the idea of being close enough to feel the pulse yet far enough to (at least) block it out with ear plugs for sleep. Someone suggested around 3 between c and e.
I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning... combing ebay and esty for the perfect gear, making lists and obsessively reading every thing I can get my hands on in preparation for the Playa.
Can't wait to experience.. well, EVERYTHING and feel I couldn't have picked a better year to make it my first.. Right of Passage really resonates these days...
love love and light-

Hi draglynfly!
Congratulations on finally getting to go. You sound like you're off to a really good start. If you haven't seen this thread yet, it may be very useful:
Exp. RVers: Suggestions for House rules for renting an RV

The rideshare board should update to 2011 soon. I've heard that several enterprising people are posting in it regardless, with a mind to repost if they get erased during the update (which I'm guessing will happen in July).

Hi!!!
I'm Natalia from Argentina but i live in Dubai and my brother lives in Jaco, Costa Rica. I love that place!!!
I'm going to BM for the first time with a friend or two. (American and Argentinian) We were thinking in meeting in Las Vegas ( but can travel any where) and find more people to share a RV.
Where are you starting your trip from?

Hola Natalia!
Que bueno! Vivi en Playa Hermosa/Jaco durante el año pasado.. Jaco es agradable pero Santa Teresa es.. especial. Tenes que visitar en algun momento.
I'm flying into LA around the 20th of August from San Jose, Costa Rica and will pick up the RV in Orange County (Costa Mesa)- drive to BRC from there. I thought about Vegas, but its about the same distance and I have friends and family in LA/Orange/San Diego. Want to get in to the city a week early to stock up on supplies, etc.
Hit me up on facebook... let's talk about it! My facebook url is in my profile.
Mucho gusto, Natalia! Espero que we can work something out.. sounds fun.

Savannah, YOU ROCK!!
First gotta say: Savannah, YOU ROCK!
Holy Sh*%... I just finished reading the thread from the RV link you posted for me.... I'm seriously, but VERY SERIOUSLY rethinking the whole RV thing...
I traveled through Europe a few years back with just my partner and we did great... I felt pretty confident about this, but..... wow after that read, really realizing BM will be a way different ride.
I went to the Pachamama Moon River Festival last year and camped in a tent for 10 days... I think I can do BM in a tent for 7.
Time to start doing some more research.... Any links or info on where to rent camping gear or buy used? Not gonna bring it all from CR and won't want to buy it all there because, you know, then what??
Thanks again, Savannah... you may have saved me from having a miserable first experience at BM.

I'm glad I could help. I hope I wasn't TOO terrifying actually, but yeah . . .v there's just much to think about when sharing an RV with strangers. If it was just you and a partner and you have lots of cash, you might even still strongly prefer an RV to a tent (some people wouldn't do it any other way, in fact) . . . so don't let me scare you off. Just don't want anything to catch you unawares. The upsides of an RV: quieter. Shelter/windblock during duststorms. A/C. You can sleep later. Etc. The downsides: everything in the linked thread. It's a "know thyself" kind of situation--knowing what kind of hassles you prefer.
Tents are cheaper, but you wake up at 8 or 8:30am on average. Etc!
