The embedded youtubes seem to take some custom tailoring.

Adblock has been so easy to use, I haven't explored much of what is possible.

I think it will probably block all youtubes.
It will easily do things just on this site vs everywhere.
There is probably a way to simply disable the embedding leaving links too.

While testing I actually removed the background template, leaving a plain page without flames or the logo.

Directly clicking on the youtube seems to interfere with the adblock options, due to the youtube options, but direct addresses can be entered.

I tried to copy filter options to post, but I can't.

I can only suggest experimentation.
I believe it will do anything as long as something isn't an integral part of another image you wish to leave visible.

The whole thing was a ploy to get beta testers.

on one hand it's good, Gyre and bob haven't really been cross treading or smack talking
but the flip side is they keep talking about "The Colors, Man!" or how to block their tubes.

Well, it's really happening this time. Tonight, June 27th at 7:00pm PST, the lights will be going dark on eplaya for a 24 hour period. Stay tuned for the official announcement.

Here is the official announcement regarding the transition tonight.

Things have been moving forward with the new and improved eplaya and it's on track for the upgrade and transition.

The old server will be taken down at 7:00pm PST with the service planned to be resuming in 24 hours, but if all goes well, the down time will be much shorter. Security, timing and the old ailing servers must be taken down as soon as possible, and there may be some rough edges and bumps that need to be worked out on the new ePlaya. The two main goals are to stabilize and secure the ePlaya hardware and software and to preserve the older, existing posts and maintain the positive experience as much as possible.
Your patience and suggestions would be appreciated as things progress and come back to life.

I think everyone will be happy with the familiar look and navigation of the new ePlaya and especially all the old information being brought forward.
Make the best of your downtime with something creative and fun. Maybe start packing for your trip to the Black Rock City in just 2 months?

Well, this is kind of weird...avatar on right side confuses me...it will take some time to get use to this...but cant say it is good or bad - it is just new

Yeah totally weird!
Color scheme is similar but a little difficult on the eyes, the contrast doesn't seem to be different enough. Or, I just need to get used to it.
But so far it seems to work ok. I haven't run into any snaffues yet.

Upper part of the page on the right hand side is and A with up and down arrows .. changes font size on the page you are viewing.

Yeah, I brought up the right-side avatars in the testing group. In 10+ years of posting on internet forums and message boards, they've always been on the left!

Maybe they put the avatars on the right to make plonking easier for righties? That's if the plonk buttons were still there of course.

Ignore/plonk lists did not migrate, so you must re-plonk. It is in your profile, under "foes". How unfriendly. They can still contact you, and I don't see a "block" feature. I'm still kicking this around.

Awesome, thanks for the info on the font!

The old board had several "styles" you could select from to change the color schemes (maybe even layout?) It'd be nice if they could download/install a few of them on here.

Pluses --
- faster
- even Search is faster
- nice Search sorting options
- nice to be able to block all the youtube embeds (via disabling Flash)
- nice organization of profile options, though maybe too much for new users

Minuses --
- THREE shades of spoiled avocado? Are you KIDDING me?
- can no longer time my replies to get a white background
- poor contrast, much harder on the eyes
- still with the insipid smilies
- 'Last post' on Index page doesn't show which thread
