Ok, kids. I know you ALL read my blog so you know what I do for fun, I searched the EBSCO data base for "female sexual response," here's a few tidbits:

Sensory responses are generally well organized in girl newborns. Girls have greater responsiveness to taste, greater mouth activity, and more tongue involvement during feeding, as well as greater overall tactile sensitivity.

How does the developing girl experience and value her genitals? In Kleeman’s (1965) observations, genital self-stimulation in infant boys “surpassed in intensity, frequency, self-absorption, activity, and precise focusing anything seen in the girls studies”

1. Cultural factors including the general sociological valuation of women and specific attitudes of men to their sexual partners affect the “average expectable” female sexual response in a given setting.

2. The physiology of female orgastic excitement involves a generalized perineal engorgement and permits multiple orgastic experiences.

3. Sensual enjoyment and sexual excitement are developmentally and experientially distinct, complex cognitive-affective motivational states. Initially separate, sensuality and sexuality later may exist with minimal overlap or may be sequentially interrelated.

4. Variability of the factors influencing the immediate dominant motivation of each sensual-sexual experience requires full appreciation of the uniqueness of the particular response being apprehended

Such sex differences reinforce the idea that a deeper understanding of the factors that cause variation in the costs and benefits of mating in both sexes is necessary.

Overall, our results highlight the importance of understanding the economics (costs and benefits) of the interplay between males and females, both in terms of how these interact with the condition of the players involved and with the local environment (Fricke et al., 2009a). Such effects have been much studied in the context of sexual selection (e.g. Emlen & Oring, 1977; Cotton et al., 2004; Kokko & Rankin, 2006; Candolin & Heuschele, 2008), but have been mostly overlooked in studies which have focused, within the context of sexual selection, on the opportunity for selection arising from
sexual conflict, where the costs and benefits of antagonistic interactions have tended to be viewed as invariant. Our results here show that this is an important omission that should be remedied (Fricke et al., 2009a).

Correlated genetic and non-shared environmental influences account for the co-morbidity between female sexual dysfunctions. Model fitting analyses indicated that individual differences on all six subdomains of the FSFI (desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain) were primarily due to non-shared (individual-specific) environmental influences. Genetic influences were modest but significant, whereas shared environmental influences were not significant. A correlated factors model including additive and non-additive genetic and non-shared environmental effects proved to
have the best fit and suggested that both correlated additive and non-additive genetic factors and unique environmental factors underlie the co-occurrence of the sexual function problems.
Conclusions. The findings suggest that female sexual dysfunctions are separate entities with some shared aetiology. They also indicate that there is a genetic susceptibility for sexual dysfunctions. The unique experiences of each individual are, however, the main factors determining if, and which, dysfunction develops.
