Actually, that image link works pretty much as expected, as it does take you to the home page of this site http://eplaya.burningman.org/index.php. I would have to assume that by "home page" that you are erroneously referring to http://www.burningman.com/index.html, which is an entirely different site.

Just like you wouldn't expect the Burning Man logo on the main site to take you here. You shouldn't expect the Burning Man logo on this site to take you there.

If that is the behavior you are referring to, that would actually be a customization that may have been done to the old site. I really never used that link on the old site, so how this site works is the way I expected that it should.

You can edit old posts (Insert a SERIOUS WTF here)....which I did with one from 2007 just to establish proof of concept. That tells me right there beyond any doubt that someone had their head up their ass. That option was changed after people did wholesale deletion of posts and it destroyed the continuity of the threads.

The fact that this was overlooked flipped on the spotlight onto this new platform...and it looks about as good as a Vegas drag queen sitting in a booth at the Peppermill at 5 am.

There's really no excuse for this had someone done their homework. TOTAL FUCKING FAIL. Spin it any other way...I dare ya. Yeah, you can't.

You're right on that. I went in and edited one from a few years back too. That doesnt bother me as much as the fact that nobody is watching these threads and fixing these glitches in any manner that even suggest they give a crap.

Top-posting consists of placing the text of your reply above the text being quoted. Became (un)popular on the Usenet and BBSs with the introduction of Microsoft Outlook, which used it as a default feature designed more for business communication rather than online forums. See: Posting Style.

Yeah, it's be the equivalent annoyance of this forum software showing messages in ascending order with age. I'd actually not be surprised if it were set up that way considering things as they are.

Interesting read. Ya learn something new every day here! Since I've always used Outlook, I always just took it for granted. Didn't know there could be an entire wiki article on where you place a reply to an email, let alone a BBS.

Just discovered a new "feature" of the site. If you send a PM and delete it before it is read/delivered, the recipient is notified. :shock:

Well, isn't that a plus, though? First that you can retrieve/delete a message before it's delivered, and then that the initially intended recipient is alerted that, yeah there's something you wanted to say but you thought better of it.

yeah, I'm on another board that uses pretty much this set up, and the scrolling pretty much means that.
And we don't have youtube there because it's a fancy add-on that interferes with future upgrades.

Fishy, Boxa added the youtube upgrade almost a month ago.

He did that instead of fixing the "Submit" button after a number of us asked him to change it to say "Make It So".
(It was mostly me because; "I refuse to submit to anyone.")
