I always get nervous when projects involve a lot of home brewed "I think that oughta work" steps. I usually remain nervous when they work exactly as planned for a few days after it works.

Yay! It worked!
Installed the new generator in the big red bus, new fuel lines, wired it up, fresh gas, pushed the button and it fired right up! And the A/C still blows cold! WOOT!

Burning Man isn't about the stuff you see when you get there ....it's about the people that brought that stuff there

Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Well done! Did you cover your important bits and wear a helmet when you went to fire it up?

It was an especially bad feeling when I had to do field expedient repairs on life support equipment that had to return immediately to service.
It was for animals but it was always a queasy feeling anyhow. They're kinda people, too.

I rewired a friend's camp trailer and installed a new distribution / converter panel the other day. After connecting to shore power I went to flip the main breaker. I always try to shield myself from a (line connected anything) on first firing. So I turn my back on the panel and reached out to flip it. She asked me why I was doing that. Told her it was just safety. Flipped it and of course it was just fine.

Hahaha Yeah I had plenty of projects (impact testers, small scale robots, lawnmower go carts, etc) in college that on the first test of a prototype I would turn a little sideways and squint my eyes before starting/engaging. Always made me feel a bit more safeFoxfur wrote:Asherbeez wrote:Well done! Did you cover your important bits and wear a helmet when you went to fire it up?
