AntiM- get some "Abreva" for the cold sores. It will make them less painful & can help shorten the time. Once they've erupted it doesn't shorten them by much, but if you get it on at the first "tingle" you can often avoid them altogether. Not cheap stuff however...

Stuff is worth every penny - I get them at BRC (dehydration brings them on for me) and it does work... not sure how, but it beats the fuck out of everything else out there. I got them - of all fucking places - on the *inside* edge of my nostril, and that is a real motherfucker (they don't want to go away)... as soon as I hit it with Abreva, they subsided.

Abreva does rock, but prescription Denivir rocks more. I've seen what the fucking pharmacy charges Tricare, THAT is some expensive shit and works far faster than even Abreva. These erupted so fast I didn't have a fucking chance to get anything on them. I was in on the clinical trials years ago in SD, I love Denivir. Sounds like some fucking Tolkien character.

How do you spend the last 24hrs with your loved one?!

Back in mid-January of 2005, I received a call informing me that my father had a stroke and was comatose in the Hospital.
We felt better after he woke up and only had some language loss.
Then the fucking doctors told us his MRI had some unusual shadows and they fucking needed to do some exploratory surgery to extricate and test a dark spot they found. This was February.

By March they suspected it may be Glioblastoma, it fucking turned out to be Anaplastic astrocytoma. This is the same type tumor that John Travolta's character had in Phenomenon except without all the fucking coolness.(I'm even more thrilled over the prospects of this being potentially fucking genetic)

My brother and I already understood what it meant even though the rest of the family were doing everything to "help" him pull through and survive.
(Word of advice, if all the information in the world says you aren't going to live longer than eighteen fucking months, don't bother making yourself more fucking miserable with Chemo and Radiation.)
From then until mid-June we did everything to make him feel that we were on the path he wanted us to be on(He always "knew" what was best for us even if we thought differently).

Living three months to make him feel better wasn't a bad price to pay to make him feel better about leaving.


So, yes, if you have to comfort someone important to you who is leaving, do whatever you need to do to make their departure more comfortable for them.

Abso-fucking-lutely. My father didn't last so long after his glioblastoma. My grandfather had it years ago, I knew immediately there was not much more than one year. However, my father was 73 and he survived 7 months after the diagnosis. He kept trying to fight and had surgery and chemo and radiation. I really tried to tell him he was just wasting time convalescing from those procedures and that he'd be happier just taking the steroids and finishing up editing all those home movies he'd been putting off. He wasn't willing to just go, and that made it more difficult for us.

James gave up after they told him the lung cancer was in his brain. He was done fighting and it really helped those around him let go, because he had let go and was at peace with his death.

I'd really like to just stick my head in the sand and tell myself that's the last cancer death, but I fear, at my age, it's only going to get fucking worse.

1 of our friends is bailing out, and we are picking up another camper in her place, so I tried to buy her ticket back from her. She is selling it for 320 when she paid $240+10 for shipping.
This idiot is trying to sell the ticket back to me for more than she paid me for it.
I sat on line the first day of ticket sales, I bought the ticket on my credit card for her, then she paid me the 250 for it!
Now she is spitting in my face and telling me she wont sell it for less than 320. Fucking idiot!
I'm damned glad she isn't going to the burn, she obviously doesn't have any idea what Burning Man is about.

Shortly after 10 pm this evening, our beloved cat Nibblet was killed as a car sped though the small quiet neighborhood street I live on. She was killed instantly. I picked her up from the street and held her lifeless body in my arms and we all wept and and prayed to God that He'd take good care of her. The other 3 cats came up to her and just looked at her, then slowly walked away as if they were saddened to. Nibblet's best bud and sister. Daisy Mae, is going up and down the stairs crying out to her, trying to find her.

I am beyond sad. My grief is unbearable. She was a member of this family for almost 4 years. My youngest son doesn't know yet. He and Nibblet had a special bond. She really loved Quentin. He was out having a good time with friends today. I'll comfort him when he comes home.

Our hearts are all broken and I can't stop crying for her.

my house was broken in to sometime during the day on Friday....They stole all electronics...My 50" plasama tv, video camera (with last years burning man video in it) video game system with all the games, dvd's, mp3 player, and my laptop.

But they didn't get my BM tickets!!! fuck yeah on that one, but fuck for not having my electronic stuff insured.

Fuck I just got completey out of debt, and now have to go back in to replace all my fucking stuff...fuck...

I'm looking at it as most of the stuff was fucking crap anyway, the video camera was hella old, the video game was an old ass PS2 that had issues, the MP3 player also had issues, and the only reason it was in grabbing range of where they got it was cause I was trying to fix the fucking pins in the plug port. So I look at it as, nothing they took will affect my life whereI'm not going to be able to get up and go to work everyday, my house is still standing with no damage, and everybody is physically fine. It's just electronic crap that can be replaced (except the pix on the laptop, and the BM video, but those are also memories in my head that they can not ever take)

Dumbshit fucker, didn't take the power cords, but fought with stuff to get the cheap ass RCA jacks with everything, also took the wrong remote for the TV, as well as the Dish Network remote, but didn't take the dish network box...dumb fuck...

Fuck Bounce! That sucks! I've been there as well. Took a fucking vcr (yeah, that long ago) that didn't work, and a stereo receiver that didn't as well. I had a renters insurance policy that was "equivelant replacement" which meant I got me a brand spanking new vcr and receiver as well as the other shit, all updated.

It was my roommate, fucking crack head. the fucker once showed off my S and W 357 revolver, it got swiped, so he paid me what I paid for it and bought a nice shotgun, which he wasn't able to find, and steal. Hah! Take that fuckhead!!!

Bounce, I know it's too late now, but the policy I had was like 125$ a year and it was worth every penny. Check it out man.

Another fuck from this weekend is on Saturday morning while I was in my garage doing a brake job, my dauchhound "Pepper" was out in my back field roaming, exploring and being the fierce protector that he thinks he is, tangled with a fucking deer. He was trampled on the side of his head and shoulder. The white part of his eye that I can see is bloody, but it's swollen shut. His shoulder and leg are really bothering him, but I can't feel any breaks. He's just been sleeping most of the day yesterday and through the night. I did get him up and put him outside to pottie this morning before I came into work, and although he's moving slow, he seemed to be moving ok. I'm just so fucking worried about him losing his sight, or losing the eye completely.
He's my little buddy, I rescued him from the pound about 4 or 5 years ago...he's my little "Mr. Man"

I had stuff taken from my front yard this past holiday, small things, a solar light cherry blossom spray and a small gazing ball in a metal stand. I loved that metal stand, I used it all the time. Old thrift shop find, I'll never replace it. I have hidey holes for all my small things, but they are too much trouble to put away unless we're going to be gone for a couple days.

I'm buying a ticket from a guy today or tomorrow. Paying 320 for it, but at least I'm not buying it from the Fucking Idiot.
My other thought, was to cancel the ticket, and give her 250 dollars. The ticket was originally on my credit card, with my email address and my name. Just send her a text 1 day like "hey I have $250 dollars for you. I canceled the ticket you have, so its pretty much just shinny paper at this point"
But knowing the fuck-wad she'd still sell it to someone, then they would end up at the gate with out a valid ticket.... and I would feel bad.
