Serious time (in an attempt to prevent inadvertent thread death)
My first year I thought I had some idea of what I was getting into, boy was I wrong. No matter what you've read, what pictures you've seen, and/or what stories you've heard from that one time you friend's friend's cousin went to burning man, you really have no clue. Burning Man is what you make it, so go forth with an open mind and enjoy the shit out of whatever comes your way.

Dancing is a state of mind and may not even involve movement at all.

On another note, if it is your first burn, do try to remember what you thought it was going to be like, and then how wrong you were. I know that I thought the festival was more about hanging out at random camps, with dirty hippies prowling the streets and weird, but low-key stuff. Well, you know where those expectations went. Still fun to remember what I thought I was expecting.

This year will not be as much fun, last year was better, next year will really suck.

Ok serious time...
I started keeping a journal of my preparations for burning man and why I decided go (for the first time) because I know everything will be different once I get there, I'll finally see/experience it and I'll never get that virgin burner naivitee back again, so I figured I'd document and catalog it because that's what I do for everything I deem important.

Great idea! I keep a journal/notebook where I write down projects/ideas that are inspired by something I see or do while on the playa. I also reflect on the week and write down things I'd like to do differently the next year. It's pretty entertaining to go back and see what I wrote and try and remember exactly why I wrote it.Smenkare wrote:Ok serious time...
