Re: Alternatives to Burning Man?
Some year I'm going ot go to the burn late, so I can go to the Coachella Accordion Festival.
If you can stand Reno, there's the barbaque thing.
Go to Whiskeytown or Lake Baressa or some other CA federal land.
Take a train to Seattle.

I'd go to San Francisco.
It's kind of a personal choice.
Some burners have gone to Peru, and other parts of south america, carrying it's own health risks.
Iceland is interesting.
You could stay in the lodge at Crater Lake, or on the north rim of the grand canyon.
Quite a few options.
Been to Bhutan yet?

I'd go somewhere with warm, clear water, snorkelling and surfing, so that I was having a very different experience.
Or Machu Picchu.

Re: Alternatives to Burning Man?
A group of my friends who can't go the desert for whatever reason do a "Drowning Lady" party in Dolores Park on Burn Saturday. They're mostly, but not all, gay. Sitting around in the sun, getting drunk around a kiddie pool, sometime during the day they push a female manikin into the pool. It's like opposite day.
I can only find the teaser flyer for an old one.

Come to CO and go to the Steamboat Springs CO wine festival.
Ya get real drunk. And you can hit up Strawberry Park Hot springs. Probably my favorite hot springs in CO. Its tucked away up this dirt road, hidden in a little valley. You can hear the roar of the river roughly 10 yards away. Its very beautiful during the day.... and Clothing optional at night. Trying going during the day and night, offers very different scenery

Chinatown.......burningfameur wrote:I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this... but Burning Man may be a bit too risky for me this year due to health reasons. Any suggestions for other places to go during that week when all of my friends are on the playa having fun? Places to travel? Festivals?
I'm happy to travel internationally. Now located in San Francisco.
