Is there really any reason that the default option for BBCode and Smilies is DISABLED?
Almost EVERY new person needs to be instructed on how to enable these features.
It would make so much more sense to have the default setting for new members be ENABLED for these features.

I couldn't agree more.
One more suggestion: When a new member registers, could a link to the Survival Guide be sent to them in the welcome email?
