When i was a small child our Mid Western home burned. I have had a fear/dislike for Burning ever since.
Putting aside a life of fear, I have decided to become, if allowed, a Virgin Burner (or is it Burner Virgin?)
I am one of the Elders from the Tribe of the Blue Bus. We are Bottlers (LIB) and Joshuans (JTMF) and truly look forward
to learning the ways of the Burn. We have read the First timer's Guide as one would a cherished Religious Text
and frequently run through the Burning Man site for every little bit.
Lists have been made, foodstuffs, waters, and survival supplies have been being gathered for months waiting to be loaded into the
newest member of out Tribe, Alice.
I will forget something, but I am bringing ET buttons and Cookie Monsters figurines just in case. You never know..
It will be so wonderful.
I can't f'ing wait!

Oooops. I forgot to say that I have everything but a ticket. That will be fixed very soon! That would be funny if that is what I forgot!

When I get to the Playa, I will have travelled approx. 900 million miles at 67,010 mph. Whew! What a trip is will have been!

All I know is that every year the Pope talks about Urban.
And I wonder why he didn't go when Metropolis was the theme.
Oh,
and
You don't have to go to the big burns. They're kind of a cheap, for the masses show. Little flames, poi and flame throwers, are going to be harder to avoid.

Hi Urban!
The big Burns are a nice spectacle, but they are not central to my experience, and they needn't be central to yours unless you feel like working some issues out, on the spot. I only enjoyed two recent Burn Nights more than average: a creepy metal alien face emerging a millimeter at a time through the wood of the "Evolution"-themed year, at which I stared rapt and then I wandered away before it fell, because it was taking forever . . . and an amazing fireball and windstorm during last year's, which did not overstay its welcome, and left the party on time, like a gentleman.
The Burn is often sort of anti-climactic. It's a lovely custom, but you will have already done & seen astonishing things week, & will probably be about to do still more.
You can probably evade fire dancers with relative ease, but be aware that there are art cars with flame effects. People do like to shoot them off willy-nilly (safely and high in the air, but loudly & suddenly). All the people driving these have been approved to do so, btw. Anyway, if you're lucky, maybe all the exposure therapy will desensitize you. One can hope.
(Bring a fire extinguisher, if you hadn't planned on it. That's always wise.)

Hello All of the Eventide People,
I guess I deserved that. I have a respect for fire, but I enjoy a good fireplace, a roaring campfire even a flaming Bar B Que. It will be interesting if any
images, sensations, sounds etc, re-activate the fear horror of that night so many years ago. I will be surrounded by the people I love, by the Tribe of the Blue Bus
so I can't wait for the tme to arrive, to begin the journey from Low Desert to the Playa.
Thanks to all who welcomed me!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
