Hey, Burners!
My name is Spidey and 2011 will be my second Burn. I had heard about the event for years and knew a few Burners, eventually wrangled a standing invitation from a camp. Went last year with Baggage Check (7:45 and C) for my virgin Burn. Although I was suffering from a serious ankle injury, a steady diet of Ibuprofen, Vicodin and other substances kept me on my feet, dancing at Opulent Temple, climbing tall structures, etc.
Although I thought I was prepared, having read every scrap I could and talking to lots of Burners, I discovered that Black Rock City is like Paris. No matter what you've heard or read, nothing can prepare you for the reality. I learned some very important lessons my first year: 1) Bring less food (you don't eat as much in the heat; 2) Bring more warm clothes (it gets damned cold when the sun goes down; 3) Let serendipity be your guide and don't get fixated on any particular event or situation; 4) Some people are jerks no matter where they are, even in BRC.
My four guiding principles for BRC are: 1) Dance as much as possible; 2) Wear as little as practical; 3) Say "Yes!" 4) Cultivate romance
Love to all,
Spidey

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hey Spidey welcome to Eplaya!
Personally I feel the second year is even better than the first. Everything is still very new and amazing but you are better prepared and have some idea what to be ready for.
