Master List for Theme Camp Placement?

Has anyone found the master list for Theme Camp Placement yet?

I don't believe there is any intention of releasing that list to the general public this year, not even to other theme camps.

A few of the placed camps are still in flux (having received emails that said location was pending), but hopefully once that's nailed down a list will be made available. Having perused the list of registered camps there are some places I'm definitely interested in checking out and exploring, the city's far too big to see everything in a week.

This is about as good as it gets at this time. This list is the camps that applied for placement and not necessarily the camps that received placement.

Ironically, Hushville is listed there. Everybody I've mentioned this too has been surprised (shocked actually) they weren't placed.

I think they haven't issued the master list for the past two years. Don't know why they don't want to. There has been cobbled together lists based on those camps that are placed and willing to announce where they are oon the web. Sounds like a lot of work to me, but if you've got that kind of mine, it would be well received.

Not publishing the compiled list might be due to some things still being in flux until the last minute, and (from what I understand) a lot of people being disappointed/frustrated when they arrive on playa and their camp isn't right on the corner "on the official list on the site."

could be!!

my personal (maybe wrong) opinion was that of the placement people responding to wishes of some camps who didnt want to be listed publically..

some reasons... might be stuff like food camps wanting to avoid being swamped (or inspected?).. sexy camps wanting to avoid floods of hornballs... some camps might not be able to afford enough booze..maybe even just wanting a private space for friends and stay under the radar?

we dont get a list because of the "secret" camps!!

This "ALL OR NONE" philosophy bewilders me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the WWW we receive at the gate is the only published listing of placed camps.

That's possible, Lemur, but in the application questionnaire there's an option to choose whether you want to be listed or not. I've never tried cross-checking anything, but assumed that those who didn't want to be listed haven't been included on any published lists. Hopefully some industrious technologist out there cooks up a site or an app for compiling some kind of opt-in list of camps. Not that I want to bring/use computers or mobile devices to BRC (I enjoy being unplugged while I'm there), just that I'd like to put together my own personal shortlist of places to try and get to.

I think Lemur hit it on the head. I think I remember reading a placement email from BMORG before last year's burn saying they weren't gonna release it because some camp like to be sneaky and keep it low key! I think it's a good idea, let the camps decide for themselves!

If it's a "private" camp they wouldn't get placed at all. One of the requirements of being a placed camp is "interactivity", and a camp that gets placed and then doesn't offer it will probably not be placed again.

I would argue that this thread, and the positive reception of said map argues that there was nothing better (i.e. and llc map) available.

Of course, I can't go back and show the same for 2009....

Thanks!!! I'm trying to plan stuff before we even get there. I know I'll be spending the first hour or so going over the booklet we get.. But still looking @ the events list and camps, there are some stuff on Monday I know my group would like to try!!

Many camps do not want advertisement. Placement folks do not want to have to worry about inadvertantly revealing private info. No list. Other than the theme camp tab on the BM web site (which is very incomplete).

I haven't yet heard of any other camps being at 4:30 and C besides ours (Chakralicious Camp). Knowing who your neighbors are if you're a theme camp is a good thing, in terms of sound, power, generator usage, and the like. How do you share resources if you don't know who your neighbors are? That's why I'd like to know more about placement.

"Usually", and there seems to be nothing usual about placement this year, a polite email to Placement asking who your immediate neighbors are will get a response in a fairly timely manner. They do understand about wanting to share resources and have been very helpful in that regard in the past. That said, I have yet to hear back this year on my request for more info. Busy time, I know. They will usually tell you, without promising specifics, if you are on a corner, who you are adjacent to, and who is just nearby. Don't expect any more than that. Good luck!
