More streets! More Corners!
What do you think about all the new 15 min interval streets from G to L? With more corners and street frontage what effect do you think it will have on the city? Have you changed your plans for camp due to this development?

More dust. Bigger budget for the DPW sign shop. More people driving or biking into sign posts. More people hogging street frontage and corners, but more sub-neighborhoods in the alleys.
I predict it won't confuse any more people than usual.

Re: More streets! More Corners!
So one year my wife and I are riding down some side street in the bad part of town and someone had put up a stop sign. Be it enough to say that attmpts were made comply with the signs request to the suprise of the people to the rear. Naturally since we were stopped people had their way with us. It was great.

Re: More streets! More Corners!
I think it will add to the confusion, a little.
Though, I figure they wont be traveled much, as they don't get you very far.
They will be the equivalent to residential streets off of major arterial roads.
But it will add more street access for some of the smaller camps. There will be less open space in the area between streets, behind smaller camps. If that made any since?

Re: More streets! More Corners!
The additional streets and corners may encourage people to be more specific with their addresses, which I would love. I can't tell you how many times someone has said "I'm at 7:30 and C"--and so I search fruitlessly--when they really meant 100 yards south of 7:30 & C at 6:45 or 6:50, which-- while still maybe technically the closest intersection--could have meant anything North, East, West or South of that intersection, and on either side of the street. And then you have to be home, or they might not even spot you . . .
This is why I take a slightly lackadaisical approach to hunting my friends down on the playa. Unless their camp is sizable and the address specific, I know I might be in for a fool's errand.

Re: More streets! More Corners!
I think the 15 minute streets are a great idea. As you get further out from center, the blocks start to get really long. Hopefully it'll make bike or foot navigation just a little bit easier for those on the outer rings.
Re: More streets! More Corners!
I'm glad for it. I camped out at 8 and J (and not 100 yards from it, only a small camp away from the corner
), and when I went for an afternoon ride the gap between radials seemed so long that sometimes I wondered if it was worth it to trek to the next street before looping back. Of course, I never wanted to just turn around and ride the same street again so fast, so I sucked it up and kept going til I found an intersection. Now with :15's and :45's I can loop and randomly turn as much as I please. I'm like a lab rat searching for cheese, when I have no idea what the cheese with end up being.

yes, I agree I like the 15 min. streets. This means that I won't have so far to go to the next sign to see if I am even going in the right direction.Fufa wrote:I'm glad for it.
