Will massage your chakra's and dj in your camp (as long as you have a soundboard, speakers, a raised platform so I look like a god- a **GOD** I tell you- and, um, maybe some music for me to play) for a snark cannon. The cannon needs to be loaded because I'm not clever enough to come up with my own snark and the people on here are faster with their evil with than I.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

I can't help feeling that no one actually read Technopatra's post.
Many people don't have ready access to the net and limited time to look for any information.
As for stupid questions, I go on many forums and I often ask the most basic questions when I can't locate the answer.
Some will ignore me, but someone always answers me.
Sometimes it's perfunctory, but often very politely.
Almost never any rudeness.
There are many forums and I may not have the time or the curiosity to find out everything about the Buffyworld, the best way to behead an infidel, the fastest way to crash a multi-national corporate server system, or even how to rebuild the transmission on my own truck.
Sometimes I just want to ask a question.
Even on turkish or french forums, my stupid questions are usually received with courtesy, and these are completely non-english, yet someone often tries to respond in anglais.
I think Technopatra's advice is excellent.

Re: Some of you should read this
The first thing said in that post was READ THE SURVIVAL GUIDE.
If new people actually followed that advice, that would solve most of the problem. I love it when a newbie starts a post something like: "Hi everyone, I've been reading the first timer's guide and trying to search the forum but can't seem to find an answer to my question."
That sets a positive tone and preempts snark even if they are lying about it!
I still feel that it is up to the poster, old or new, to set the tone of their posts and that they are consequently responsible for the types of replies they elicit. Everybody today wants to absolve themselves of responsibility and play the poor victim. That's bull shit.
Rarely do I post something mean, rude or crude that it is not my intention to provoke. After I either get the reaction I am expecting, or maybe even better, get no reaction at all, I move on. Sometimes I apologize, sometimes no apology is necessary. It's just my way of testing the metal of new acquaintances. Based on how people respond, it gives me a good indication of their character. Like it or not, it hasn't seemed to fail me yet. I've made some wonderful friends here and eliminated the riffraff along the way too.
