I plan on doing an art project at Burning Man this year with The Human Mandala Project. You can find out more at http://humanmandalaproject.com
I wonder: What is the best way to elevate oneself over 50 feet having the space below free from visual obstruction? Crane? Articulated lift? Ideas?
Also, if a crane is the best option, I would love opinions on how I can collaborate with those people that may already be bringing a crane to Burning Man.
Thirdly, does anyone have any experience with bringing machinery like this to the playa? Would you like to offer me any advice?
Many Thanks!

This looks pretty neat.
I wonder though, if elevating your camera might be much easier than elevating you. Putting 10 pounds of equipment over a crowd is a lot easier out there than yourself and camera gear.

I have seen some great pictures done with cameras attached to helium balloons. There are also camps that have scaffolding frames set up that you can climb for some photos. I know there are cranes there, but most are brought in for specific uses, and usually not for loan.
