Nope, just plain ol' meat is fine with me. A little salt and pepper, done. Are we there yet...
Re: One Item for BM a Day
This is the disease I have. I cannot pick one thing and feel it will be a good choice for all eventualities. There starts to be this need for lots of options. a trike and a bike, perfect example. a headlight, a flashlight, a lantern, an electric lantern and a gas lantern, a water bottle, insulated water bottle, collapsible platypus bottle, you know what I used at the festival last weekend for water after I brought all the "containers? I bought a pepsi in a pint plastic bottle and refilled the bottle over and over. sheesh. Is that like the kid playing with the wrapping paper all Christmas morning? simplify... oh hell no.melodiousdirge wrote:Lol, nothing like that. I started another thread about it. Just a few issues that became clear with the whole trike idea when I started trying to ride and maneuver it around. People are slowly talking out of my pessimism regarding it though. I might just bring a bike as well.... one more thing to do!

I realize this thread is old, but this is a great idea! I'm going to buy some plastic storage containers, and begin slowly filling them with at least the necessities for the 2012 Burn.
Hopefully this will prevent me from waiting until the last possible second to get my shit together, as I am known to do.

For like, TEN YEARS I've been wanting to sell on Ebay (since I can't afford a brick store) and today, with Dr. Jet's encouragement, I put up my very first two listings.

So, if anybody has any advice, bring it on!! Hopefully this will give me plenty of money for travel and expenses and help me empty my house so when I move to Gerlach my house can sell quickly.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I haven't sold on ebay in a few years, but I found that it rarely pays to list an auction for the full duration. 5 days is the most I would reccommend on that. I have friends that never list for more than 3 days. 99.9% of all the action is in the last 15 minutes anyway, but I found that longer duration listings generated less interest (maybe because the end was so far folks lost interest or forgot). YMMV.C.f.M. wrote:For like, TEN YEARS I've been wanting to sell on Ebay (since I can't afford a brick store) and today, with Dr. Jet's encouragement, I put up my very first two listings.

Agreed on the duration thing. I add items to my watch list all the time and if they take too long then I forget about them

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Thrifting today - 2 burner propane stove, paint scuffed on the outside but immaculate inside - $7
(will test it out and make sure it works in the next couple of days)
Stopped by a TJ on the way home, scoped out all the options available with a skillet, nice. I may even brave pancakes and burgers (although probably not together).
Looks like this year won't consist exclusively of peanut butter, cheese, tuna, crackers and cereal
(although I dont think I could go a whole week without cheese).
At the doller store I picked up a rather large thermometer and a rather small dry erase board (in case I get visitors when I'm out).
I packed up one of my projects, a little larger than I thought, it probably won't fit in the car with everything else but falls just under the cu ft I bought on the NY container. I will have to venture a foray into NJ mid-August to get it on to the container and deal with picking it up on the playa but if that's the price one pays I'll deal with it (very happy, I had a Plan B).

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Started seaming together the polygons to make the canopy for my dome... this thing is going to be a major pain in the ass to handle once it's all glued together I think. If my math is right it will weigh over 100lbs.
So... trying to imagine what it's going to be like attempting to fold the equivalent of a 100lb, 24 foot diameter fitted sheet. I have enough issues with a queen sized one.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
11 days til I fly out....
My items are really uninspiring compared to you guys but I'll add them in
1. obtained D rings to sew into my tent - so I can hang up things in there - now must put tent up (inside because it won't stop raining here) - and do my sewing.
2. Found the tarp and the extra tent pegs (yah)
3. purchased a small frying pan and a new bowl and plate
4. started pulling out clothes to work out what I need to take (realised I have put weight on - eek)
5. thought about whether my beat up old work boots will be sufficient on the playa (I think they will have to be - although i might spray paint them silver)
This weekend is going to be all about trying to finish the packing.

My item for the day... well, there's two of them... OUR TICKETS!
Honestly, I don't think I've felt this kind of sense of anticipation for an event outside of Christmas as a kid. (Well, when my kids were born, that was more - but that's obviously different!)

A few years back a number of the craft sellers on ebay jumped to etsy. I think it was over a fee-raise. I don't know what your criteria are for making or changing your site, just thought that you might want to know.
Although, if it were me, I'd probably go all neurotic with the extra info.

Hid the ticket in the car today.
More importantly, scheduled an event on my calendar to remind me where I hid it on 8/29 .
I huffed PVC solvent all day, somehow at the end of the day I managed to build what I started out to build as well.
Can't wait until I get to the spray paint.
