Irish Wake at Burning Man

Post by irishwake » Fri Jul 22, 2011 9:15 am

A Wake is an ancient Irish ceremony held to celebrate the passing of loved ones from this life to the next. During an Irish Wake the departed’s body would be laid out in their home and family and friends would come to remember and celebrate their life. An Irish Wake was more of a party than a funeral, with music, dancing, eating and drinking to ensure the deceased was given a proper send off. This year at Burning Man we will be holding a traditional Irish Wake for the Man.

Tús Nua is located at Birthday and 3.00 so come on by during the week to pay your last respects to the man and to learn all about the ancient tradition. Then join us on the Friday night for our Irish Wake.
