Please don't post shit before you know what you are talking about. The only incident of blowing anything into anybody's vehicle happened at GATE, not at Greeters. It was done with a shop vac, not a fire extinguisher. There are photos to prove it.Turnip wrote:Don't blow dust into my car with a fire extinguisher.
Doing that will get you shanked.
I read about that happening before at the greeters gate and still frown (grimace, glare, snarl) about it.
So I just got confirmed as a greeter..
Excuse me, "blowing apparatus"Mojojita wrote:Please don't post shit before you know what you are talking about. Okay, I was wrong about whichever gate it was.
But the advice still stands. The details don't really make a difference to this shit post.
God Please, don't make me make myself look like a moron...

It was a shop vac, but I totally agree with you.Turnip wrote:Don't blow dust into my car with a fire extinguisher.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Cool! I had a good experience with both the gate and greeters...I brought gifts of frozen coconut juice and cold PBRs.
Gate and Greeters LOVED it and held them up and more and more beverages flowed out of the line of vehicles, it started a good chain reaction!
I may be bringing a burgin, hmmm, perhaps you'll be our greeter JS, LOL

Now back to more potty talk.....one ply! one ply! If it doesn't come outta yer body, it doesn't go into the potty!

That year that I witnessed Pearly Gates running the shop-vac at Gate. I got all comfortable and lit a cigarette in the fake dirt-storm. I LMFAO. It was a beautiful day, I was fresh off the pavement, and I was FUCKING HOME.
Enjoy life with it's myriad gifts.
BTW: don't fuck with Gate. They're not amused.

First thing, ask them how many burns they have attended.junglesmacks wrote:..and I'm tripping. In a good way. So excited.
Someone that's been there/done that or has close experience with it wanna give a few tips?
This will tell you what approach is needed to emphasize the rules.
I just wanted to be efficient when I started, but found that people coming in with virgins wanted something else.
I developed a special routine for them, polished over 12 hours.
I won't post it, but if you want to use it, email me.
Absolutely some of the most fun I've had on the playa.
So wonderful meeting so many people so quickly.
I really really hate the bells though.
Re: So I just got confirmed as a greeter..
so, i've been hoping to volunteer as a greeter for two years now, but nobody ever got in touch with me regarding the application. what's the secret?
I showed up on opening night last year, but I guess they don't want untrained newbies that night...

Re: So I just got confirmed as a greeter..
look, i know by now that this burn is over but for any greeters or wannabe greeters out there the keys are: Porta pottie rules, locations and landmarks, radical self reliance, radical self expression, leave no trace and radical inclusion.
That having said i have volunteered at greeters my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years... unfortunately not my 4th...
My 1st year i was lucky enough to be camping with folks who had set up a "Camp Shift" @ the greeters station and not only did we work hard for 4 hours, we got to utilize the shade room, with air conditioning, to make grilled sandwiches for a lot of people with a electric sandwich griller!
My 2nd year was similar, however less dusty and more hot, so DO take lots of water and chapstick...
My 3rd year was @ night, on opening night cuz i had an early pass and was one of the best four hours of my life, fueled by beer but little else, i was eventually given a huge traffic wand by topless deb's daughter to direct traffic into lanes, slow people down, dance and still have tons of fun! Opening night is much more intense for sure so BE PREPARED!
other than that, prepare to get gifted...
and ps, learn to recognize dpw cars so that you don't slow them down....
