Artist/Engineer looking to help out a camp

Post by foxrover » Sat Jul 23, 2011 12:28 pm

Hi there!
I'm from San Francisco, have lots of energy, life, and hope to experience, give, and have a great time! My group is possibly falling out, so I'm planning on either camping myself or joining a camp. I have/will have everything I need for myself. I like people who are open minded, caring, and love life and friends. I enjoy art, dancing, and everything under the sun. I'd like to find a camp where I feel like I can contribute. A bit about me:

- I'm an engineer. I design and build things, almost anything. I've done carpentry, woodworking, basic electronics, soldering, some programming, machining, plastic fabrication, fix bikes, repair stuff, etc, etc....I've made everything from furniture to amplifiers.

- I'm an artist. I paint, body paint, airbrush, sculpture, carving, play guitar, anything I can get my hands on. I learn fast and figure stuff out.

Any camps themed around those areas (and preferrably based in SF so I can meet you!) that are looking for a new member?

Best wishes

Hey Foxrover!

If you go to the main Burning Man site and click on "Regionals" at the top, you can find regional contacts and mailing lists for SF, and might hear a good many camp names mentioned. Registration is finishing up for a lot of camps right now, however, so if that method seems slow and indirect and google isn't giving up the goods (although I am seeing results using the keywords burning man camp San Francisco or burning man camp SF), you might send your excellent introduction to non-SF camps that look compatible in the 2011 Theme Camps forum, and save a local camp for next year if necessary. When I clicked on the nearby Hookah Lounge thread, for example, I noted that they have a link to their site and list what they're about, their camp fees, and their amenities.

Having done all or most of your shopping and reading, and being handy, you're going to be fine out there on your own if you decide to do that--and will have neighbors immediately. :)

Hi Foxrover,

Are you still camp-less? We're putting together a pretty sweet camp of around 60 people (mostly musicians and dancers) and can probably squeeze one more in. :)

The reason I found your post, though, was because you said you're a guitarist. Check out my post and let me know if you're interested:

We'll be leaving from SF first thing Sunday morning to arrive when the gates open!
