While agreeing that if someone blocking a siren deliberately (well apart from police in some circumstances, actual suppression of the population being just about all of them, but this is a parenthetical aside in the most cya to avoid argument way) I wonder if some of it might just be total panic because this has never happened to them before. We go to a parking lot, Grandson gets behind wheel, Puts car in gear/drive, Car starts to roll, I say "stop!", Car still moving, Grandson asks why? I drive home.. No more driving until grandson learns to get head out of self centered ass.. All the kids and grand kid have learned to drive from me.. Our family dose not get tickets or weak cars.. It's simple, Pay attention and obay the law..

I was pretty amazed that I escaped it without wrecking and needless to say the rest of my response (only about 2-3 blocks) I was like...WTF WTF WTF the whole way 
And then having to transition from that mode to working a code took it a bit........
MDF, no, he did not make it. Apparently he had just coded before I walked in the door, took an agonal breath or 2 as I got to him, skin was pink and warm but his pupils were dilated and fixed. He was in ventricular fibrillation when I hooked him up to my AED (yes, it can display rhythm's through the pads like on any monitor) and I shocked him once as the ALS unit walked in. We ended up shocking him 6 more fucking times enroute to the ED but they pronounced probably 5 minutes after we arrived. 61 yrs old. Some days, ok, a lot of days, this job just gives you moments of pause.
My company did experiment a few years back with dash cams that would record vehicle parameters as well as video fore and aft, particularly useful in that situation had I crashed, but had d/c'd their use. We have a large immigrant population in this area. One of my theory's on why we have so many drivers that either pull towards the left, or just stop dead in their tracks is that many may have come from countries that drive on the left and were taught to pull off to the left side, as we are taught here to pull to the right. Also, as many are from the Middle East, woman who came from countries that would not allow them to drive all of a sudden find themselves able to. However, the lack of experience makes them no better then our teenagers here who are also new drivers and easily can be freaked out and respond incorrectly to approaching emergency vehicles.

Got a lobster of a sunburn while swimming at the lake yesterday and am still wincing in pain, got about 4 hours of sleep last night and feel like I'm coming down with a cold, and THEN I go to work and get physically assaulted (body checked and nearly got a black eye) and threatened more harm by a rather troubled young boy who then decides to also run away from us. Talking a 12 year old out of a tree who really wants nothing to do with you, has some pretty deep rooted issues with authority, and will only answer to someone with I quote "jurisdiction" over him is no easy task. It took 2.5 hours after he started to flip on us for him to be finally picked up by his guardians and taken home. I feel bad for him, but I don't know if I could handle working with him again.

Thanks Jella, got those layers of aloe already soaking in. It's one of my worst ones, so unfortunately I think I still have a few more days of just sucking it up and dealing with the pain. I would like it to be bearable and (hopefully) turning into a tan by the time Friday rolls around and the long weekend begins! Back to the lake I will go then....this time with proper sunscreen applied.

Use vinegar!!!!!!! Last year I sunburned my leg last day of BM very badly, I had fever and couldnt really sleep because of pain...than I poured vinegar on it and it helped...it suck out the heat from it and pain.

On the drive home from Reno yesterday I didn't wear a shirt. Or pants. My left leg looks like satan blushing. Fortunately I used little foxy (the small plush fox who rides on the dash) to cover "li'l foxy". No worries there.
Sweetpea gave me a bottle of 'Burn Jel Plus' by WaterJel. It works so well that the leg feels fine today from just one application last night.

You guys convinced me, I just picked up some lidocaine spray on my way home from work. I'm popping 600mg of ibuprofen every morning, and applying aloe or lidocaine twice at night (evening and before bed) and then slathering on super strength sensitive skin lotion before I go to work each morning. Spray the burn with lidocaine/antiseptic/aloe combination, solarcaine or equivalent. Let that stuff dry to cool the burn and medicate it. Follow with spray-on oil to lubricate & protect without friction, because, friction will aggravate the skin damage & peeling. Ointments are great for burns, but, rubbing them in does a lot of damage. For broken skin, ointment on gauze, gauze on wound is the best way to go.Go naked, yeah FF you have the right idea there!
And Fufa, you might want to buy some new sunscreen because that stuff loses potency over time, especially if it's been exposed to heat.

Normally, I don't have to use my inhaler for months at a time, I forget I even have asthma. Then we get a high pollen/bad ozone/bad air quality day and I get "tight chested". Fucking sucks. But I only go to the ER if my lungs make that funny noise. I really hate the fucking ER, and have already been there twice this month for my fucking infected cat bite. Which I think is also why I'm fucking not bouncing back, I think my immune system is still ramping back up to speed.
I have an appointment tomorrow for the infection follow up, I will dutifully mention the asthma flaring up.
