Since coming to this board, nobody has been plonked and I decided to leave it that way--at least for awhile. With one exception; since mods can't delete the spam users, I have begun plonking them. At least I don't have to read their posts when they post within an existing forum.

Is "plonking" clicking on the ! in a triangle. Then reporting them?
Or is Plonking the action of blocking everything a person writes?

Re: WTF
No, that little triangle is used as you said to report them to the mods. But then I take the next step and plonk them so that I personally don't have to see any more of their posts. On the new board it's called "Foe", which you can find in their profile, which you can get to by clicking on their user name. There is also a "Friend" option for people you like here. These functions used to appear on the old board as little smilie-like buttons under their avatar.

Re: WTF
Ok, tonight my client says,"Do you want to order pizza for dinner? I can chip in tonight!" I said yes but I had only $5 on me. I told her I'd use my debit card and she can pay me in cash. Good deal.
the pizza came and it wasn't the one we ordered and they offered to give it to us for free and make the correct one. Coolbeans! My client said Why don't you call them and have them credit your card and we'll keep this pizza since it was free. I said I had ordered the correct pizza and it was "free".
So we chowed on the wrong pizza and I noticed she was quiet. The correct pizza came shortly afterward. I sked her if she would like half the pizza and she said no, my sugar count would spike through the roof (she's diabetic). I said ok. Then she said, "I think I should get my money back since I ate the free pizza and you're taking home the new pizza". I gave her back the the money she gave me. I told her it didn't really matter which one was "free". She started to get in one of her argumentative moods. So I said ok! That's fine...So tell me what you think of this. So I feel I paid for the whole pizza anyway.
Am I wrong and being a twit? Or is she wrong?

Re: WTF
I would have just told her to keep the other pizza and kept her money.
Well actually, I would never let a client pay in the first place, but maybe my business is different than yours.

Re: WTF
I'd say that she changed the rules by eating the pizza she apparently didn't want.
I'd also say that $5 is not an earth-shattering amount. And (Sorry) that maybe you are taking it too seriously.
I'd keep it more "professional" (by which I mean, more by the book, not that you were not being professional.) Now that you know she keeps count in that way, I'd be careful to be involved in money transactions that aren't contractual and transparent.
But I absolutely belive in your right to check in with other people when something feels "off." Sometimes my instincts lead me astray.

Re: WTF
What is it that you do? Or what is the service that you are providing the client?
If you are a cook you shouldn't have ordered the pizza.
If you are a lawyer, they should be buying your dinner.
If you are a contractor, you should be buying your own pizza.
Though, I'd say that if things are friendly enough that you are splitting meals and eating together, she should have pitched half. You ended up with 2 pizzas, for the price of 1. She should have paid half, and taken some with her. Had you ended up with 1 whole pizza for free, then no she shouldn't have had to pay, but neither would you.
I imagine that the overall cost of the pizza's and tip was probably about twenty bucks (at least thats what pizza+tip typically runs in Denver) So, is it really that big of a deal when you look at the monetary value... maybe not, is it kinda jacked up when you look at the over attitude of the client, yep.
Fishy, makes a very good point. At least you've learned how this client thinks and acts on a small transaction, and not over hundreds of dollars.
It might actually be a good way to figure out how your clients think and act.

Re: WTF
I'm a caregiver. Usually I don't normally do anything like ordering food with a client. I was just a bit miffed last night. Sometime her reasoning can be skewed. I really don't mind paying for the pizza, but it was her attitude. Oh well, live and learn. However, I'll never do it again.
Thanks for all the input. And fishy, I think you're right. I made a lttle too much over it. I'm a giving person by nature...

You're allowed to make a bit much of it, just so long as you don't get sucked into wasting your energy. I think I said I need reality checks. You did just fine with that.

Re: WTF
Ya know, MA, I figure if someone in my family needed/had a caregiver, I probably wouldn't let them leave with out eating. I'd probably make them a meal every time they came by.
But my family has a long lineage of making people eat when they come over.
On another note, Is anyone else willing to help get us to a new page in this thread. I'm really tired of seeing that crazy zombie lady every time I open this thread.
Its so weird how nasty she looks, but at the same time not dead, but happy. ITS JUST WEIRD!
