San Diego's CORE project has met its Kickstarter funding backing minimum of $1,500, but this represents just 30% of our total project budget of $5,000.

The good news is that there's still time to donate and increase that percentage. Just visit our Kickstarter page at


Donations can be accepted until 10 pm EDT, July 31. So hurry on over to our Kickstarter page and be a part of making this historic project happen at Burning Man Rites of Passage - CORE Burn.

RAFFLE - WIN A TICKET TO BURNING MAN!

That's right, we're raffling off a ticket to Burning Man! With Burning Man tickets now sold out, increase your odds of getting to the Playa, and at a very reasonable price. The tickets are only a dollar and you can never have too many tickets to Burning Man (well, until mid-September any ways).

The raffle drawing will be held on July 31st on Fiesta Island (event information below), but you do not have to be present to win - the winning number will be announced via all community email lists and on Facebook, and you have until Wednesday, August 3rd to respond.

RAFFLE DRAWING AND PRE-CORE BURN - 7/31/2011
============================
The San Diego CORE project will be hosting a community event on July 31 on Fiesta Island. The event will officially start at 5:00 pm, but there will be people at the site all day, so feel free to show up earlier. Here's a schedule of the day's activities:

*** Potluck Lunch: 1:00 - 2:00 pm ***
*** Potluck Dinner: 6:00 pm ***
*** Raffle Drawing: 7:00 pm ***
*** CORE Effigy Model Burn: 9:00 pm ***

This is your chance to meet some of the amazing volunteers on the build team who've helped bring this project to life, with hours and hours spent planning, cutting, hammering, grinding, weaving and illuminating the effigy for the CORE Burn on the Playa.

And then watch a model of San Diego's CORE effigy burn at 9:00 pm, an incendiary prelude to the historic CORE Burn on the Playa on Thursday night before the Man burns.

The raffle drawing will be held at this event, but if you are unable to attend, not to worry - the winning number will be announced via all community email lists and you have until Wednesday, August 3rd to respond.

INSCRIBE A MESSAGE
============================
Your San Diego CORE team is now collecting messages from local burners to be inscribed on the Quemaduras del Sol effigy in the Circle of Regional Effigies.

Please send any single-sentence message you would like to share with the community in Black Rock City to this address: [email protected]

Be creative. Be eloquent. Be strange. Be you. This is *your* regional effigy, and will carry a large number of messages from San Diego to the CORE circle in BRC. The art team working on Quemaduras del Sol will review all the messages received, and will inscribe a selection of these on the base of the effigy. We'll share the final list of inscriptions with everyone before we head out to install the effigy on the playa.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES STILL ABOUND!
============================
There are 3 ways to help on the playa:
1. Effigy Guardians - Spend 3 hours any time between Monday Morning and Thursday Afternoon meeting people, talking about San Diego, and keeping the effigy safe for visitors.

2. Fire Perimeter - Spend Thursday evening being one of the closest people to the fire; watch the joy and wonder on the faces of fellow Burners as 23 pieces of large art burn simultaneously.

3. Leave No Trace - Once the fire has subsided remove remaining bits so that DPW can prepare the area for the rest of the weekends events.
