Ideas for things to stock at a playa hardware store

Post by Funkpocket » Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:30 pm

We are driving from Florida, and are thinking of useful things to keep an eye out for at yard sales. Ex. Hose clamps, bungee cords, ratchet straps ect.

I want to bring a lot of a few practical items, rather than a few of a wide variety of items.

What items would be the most helpful on the playa?

Ohhh, in addition to bike chains: bike TUBES. These suckers only cost $3 or so for a 26", but when you need one . . . you really need one.

obvious jokes aside ...

5/16" or 3/8" in various lengths (1", 3") would probably be the most useful. Bring washers for holes that are too big and a cordless drill w/bit for holes that are a bit too small.

In case it isn't clear, Tennis Balls to put over exposed rebar. You could bring a thousand and find enough exposed rebar to cover use them all.

I believe these are also popular for bike kickstands to keep them from sinking into the playa.

Nope. It can't be. :)

People running these camps find ways to collect stuff for free or cheap throughout the year, and then give it away. This is how the bars, cafés and costume camps operate, and AntiM's Home for Wayward Art, I believe. And so on, except for ice and coffee.

Copies of the map, theme camp guide, etc.

Screw that, just bring old copies of Piss Clear.
