we would like to do our tear-down during Monday (labor day) and then not wanting to drive at night, spend another night in our RV on the playa and leave with first light on Tuesday. is this posible? or must we vacate the premises by midnight Monday? or earlier?

That should be OK, we're thinking of doing the same thing; just depends on how tired we are.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

we just want to party hard after the temple burn. have a long sleep while most people do their exodus, tear down and moop on Monday afternoon, go to sleep again no monday night (or party a little more if we find who with) and then drive out leisurely on Tuesday morning. no rush for us to get out, and the RV is booked till Wednesday anyway.

Many people stay a day or two longer. We plan to leave Tuesday ourselves.

I left Wednesday last year. It is weird to see the city evaporate like it does.

Early Tues before 7am is my preferred exit time as well.

Tuesday departures are gaining in popularity. Lots of people do it. Just be aware it violates the permit, and eventually they'll crack down.

Volunteer for exodus, and you'll have permission to stay.
Note that there are required training sessions now, so you'll need to go to one on the playa, but it's promised to be short and meaningful. Louise and I have been volunteering for a few years now and avoiding exodus by working that day (and others during the event).

Ya, kind of sad. Just the opposite of how it feels seeing the city fill up when you get their early.

Yep, technically those of us without authorization are supposed to be off the playa by Monday midnight. One of these years, BLM will get that bug up their ass. So far, it is still a non-issue.jkisha wrote:Ohhh...I didn't know that.AntiM wrote:Tuesday departures are gaining in popularity. Lots of people do it. I was thinking about volunteering this year, but training sessions are 6 hour shifts - not short. Not sure I can do that and run a theme camp with pre - scheduled events this year.Note that there are required training sessions now, so you'll need to go to one on the playa, but it's promised to be short and meaningful. Louise and I have been volunteering for a few years now and avoiding exodus by working that day (and others during the event).

Re: what is the latest you can stay on the Playa?
Oops. This is a different training. Your first work shift is your training shift, so it is not the training I was referring to. Additionally, that 6-hour training shift is not required for those working only exodus:but training sessions are 6 hour shifts - not short.
emphasis mine.If you are intending to work any Gate or Perimeter shifts, you must first attend an on-playa training prior to working any other shifts. You may sign up pre-playa for other shifts in the schedule after your training shift, but you must pass your training shift before working Gate or Perimeter shifts. Click the “Training” schedule in GASMS to sign up for your training shift. Those only working Exodus are not required to attend a training shift (Exodus is trained on-the-job), though you are highly encouraged to do so!
Those who have volunteered before get the abbreviated training. Our training lasts about 45 minutes if I remember correctly, and our training session does not count as a shift. Sorry for my confusion; hope this clears it up.
TL;DR Exodus volunteers get on the job training and don't need any separate training sessions. Volunteer for exodus and work that day, getting permission to stay over.
