Helping an International Burner

Post by heff » Fri Jul 29, 2011 3:04 am

Hey Guys,

I'm coming to the Burn for my 2nd year this year from Australia, 2008 was my first. I am trying to minimise the waste that I produce this year, Mainly all the camping stuff that just seemed to go to waste after the burn in 2008. It is impossible for me to bring everything i need camping wise to the burn from Australia. My costume/clothes are already enough. and pushing my baggage limit to the max!!

I'm wondering if anyone here would gift me a tent for the burn, and I can return it to you after. I will be in san fran from the 26th of August and can p/u and return there afterwards or on the Playa.

Any help in terms of camp setup would be incredibly appreciated and help reduce the waste that is produced. And I'm sure I can find someway to help return the favour. maybe beer or bacon can suffice :)

THankyou

Heff

If no one is able to help you out this time, pick up a $40 dome tent (one with as little mesh or openings as possible) in Reno or SF or wherever you land. I made such a tent work for 4 Burns. Some 10-inch coleman stakes will probably be better than the ones that will come with the tent, and you can get them for just a few dollars more--although I have to say, I used the stakes that came with the tent and they were probably only 6-8".

Click on "Regionals" from the main Burning Man site and join the Australian Burner mailing lists. Someone on there will no doubt have some tips for how they make it work, and where they donate or toss stuff they can't tote on the plane.

Oh, and buy your goggles before you come. That way you'll know they fit.
