I'm so excited about all of it, I just signed up for another rider shift bringing me up to 30 hours this year.

I am hoping for mad entertainment.

I've brought folks to BM in the past and will be again this year.
People that I hooked up with on the ride board or other places.

I made a set of rules the first time and they still apply.

1) No drugs. Particularly no pot. It's my vehicle that is at risk. Burners are way more likely to get stopped and searched by cops. Wanna bring pot? Drive your own vehicle.
2) Show some form of legal ID. If you are going to take a turn driving then show me a valid driver's license.
3) Everyone shows their ticket or will call printout at the start of the trip. This year I have one rider. We are going to lock the tickets/will call info in the glove box and only get it out when we reach BM.

The good people at the gate have reasons for what they do. For example, they do not want to have abandonned people hanging around the gate. Hence it's all or nothing for each vehicle.

Not yet. I'll keep us posted, though. Hate to do that to an acquaintance, but...do the action and accept the consequences. *shrugs* I don't think he'll really do it, at least I sure hope not. =/

He's been told that. I believe (this is all third hand remember) that he's envisioning purchasing from someone in line. I think he's rejecting reality and replacing it with his own? Derp.

Wow, 30 hours is a LOT.

I'm quite excited about working perimeter, though, I must say. And I want to check out lighthouse, too.

Oh yes, lighthouse has me greatly intrigued.

As for 30 hours, we are out there for 2 weeks because of the theme camp stuff, so giving up a day spread out over that time is not a big deal for me. I realized last night, I am almost as excited to be working the event this year as I was my first burn. A schedule? Places to be? Bring a watch for the first time in five years? AWESOME for some totally bizarre reason.

Makes sense. Having a schedule out there isn't bad, it's just different, for me anyways.

My first years were mostly all no schedule at all, which I loved. Now I love having a little bit of schedule and I love volunteering. It all works out.
