Did you try poking around more on Etsy? Somebody might be making them in non-bamboo organic sheared by virgins crap for cheaper.

I did a bit and not much luck...everyone has apparently found the vintage mecca of the world (China) and charges lots for the privilege.

DanusLight MADE ME ONE - and a snood.

I think I talked about a bearded beanie sometime in OH November of last year...but I did not the motivation to finish it until I saw CFM's awesome viking version.
So finally worked on the beard and mustache last night and this morning (I wake up before the entire house on Sat mornings for some reason...a little me time if you will 8) )

Let me know what you guys think! (The stupid mustache took me about 5 tries)

Thanks MDF. Yes he does. I know he thought I had given up (which I did for months!) so he is glad I actually finished it and that it came out as well as it did.

waxpraxis that disco suit is AWESOME! Is it difficult to program the lights to be noise sensitive?

We should go on a raid! Pillage n' junk!f

At the costume shop, we turned them inside out, safety pinned, tossed in with the regular wash, set back on a head when they were done and perked up the style while wet (bobby pinned curls, whatever).

You did good! I will agree that the mustache was a huge PITA.

I have two project major projects going now ... a black top hat completely done in single crochet and a jesters hat. It's been too hot to pick up thread.

I love seeing others' projects. Thanks for sharing!

learning to crochet or knit is on my list of things to do. seems like a fine activity for the copilot on these type trips.
Got three t=shirt cooling vests all cut out, one pinned. Will sew it together tomorrow. Then the fun part, decoration! \

Cooked up some spaghetti with italian sausage and gravy. Putting single servings in freezer bags for the trip. Not having to spend a lot of time cooking on the road is so worth it for me. Got a couple easy freezable meals going now. If anyone has some suggestions on meals that freeze well let me know. Plan on freezing some pickles. i think I will really enjoy me a frozen pickle on the playa.

Frozen pickles? Interesting. I've never heard of that treat before. And I do like pickles.

jkisha, they are so much better frozen! So refreshing. The kids and i would chomp on them at the pool. Very refreshing.

Oh, we snagged some blue cheese stuffed olives. Daughter's boss gave them to her to test and see if they would sell. We are bringing them to the meet and greet.
We ate the goat cheese and crackers she sent already. Will have to get some more of that too.

I have never had a frozen pickle! Brilliant!

I love grilled anything frozen to re-warm. Plus a roasted tri tip pre-sliced is yummy. Also have had good results premarinating teriiyaki steak, freezing it and grilling or pan frying it out there.

Wow  Those sound very intricate...and I thought the beard was a doosey. I will be looking forward to seeing those on the playa.
