That's so funny. You should see our apartment when we bring the yurt panels inside after washing them so we can fix any damaged areas and edges with metal tape. We can barely get from the living room to the kitchen!

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Refectexed two coolers (the whole time trying to figure out why on earth I removed it from the one I took last year).
Checked the exp dates on the eye drops and nasal spray, augmented shopping list.
Spot painted 4 different materials being used in a project to test coverage (shit I just remembered there are 2 more materials I failed to paint).
Loaded the car with the pieces of same project, tools, rebar and paraphanalia to bring to a local park first thing in the morning as the striking distance exceeds the width of my yard.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Yesterday we got the shade structure up and fully tarped for the first time. It took a little longer than we expected because the u-bolts were banged up so much from my first attempt. I ended up running out later to pick up new u-bolts that won't get used until we're out on the playa.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Thank you! The second I decided to go to Burning Man (pretty much on the flight back from Lakes of Fire) I knew I'd want some kind of shade structure, but had the limitation of having to fly out so I needed something where we could fly with the majority of the material and then purchase the large elements in Reno.
This tensegrity structure fit the bit perfectly - we're bringing the cabling, straps and tarps and then buying the lumber in Reno (and either burning it or giving it to Burners Without Borders when we leave). It's based on Camp Elsewhere's design but tweaked so that it uses metal cabling, ratchet straps, tarps and bungie balls. All of the material only fills about 1/2 of one of the big plastic bins we're flying out with.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
YAAAWN! So tired, long weekend.
I purchased new plastic chest of drawers and hanging rack for the inside of my tent. Hung out my feather bed in the sun and beat the dust out of it. Glued some batting over the vents of my goggles. My staff ticket finally came in the mail! YAAAAAY!
So much more to do.
I leave in 19 days!

Is that 6 month or 12 month?
Oddly, my auto insurance offeres two different AAA type protection plans. I didn't realize this, and when one expired, I signed up for the second one, then the first one auto-renewed. So now I have double road side assistance through my insurance company.

12 months 100 mile tow.
It was the middle option.
First level, 5 mile.
Second level, 100 miles.
Third level, 200 miles plus a bunch of stuff I would never use.
The code is good for all levels.

Members get free road maps too and if you plan to do any sightseeing along the way those little books they publish list pretty much everything of interest in each state. The books also list and rate hotels, but I find the cheaper hotels are rarely in their books.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

You can also change levels midstream, I renewed my regular membership in June and found out that you can upgrade at any point pro rata so I set a reminder in my calendar to call 6 days before I leave (there is a 5 day wait period). I don't travel much the rest of the year and don't like paying for stuff I don't/won't use.
It remains to be seen whether I can switch back when I'm back home.
I blew a tire in WY last year and limped close to 100 miles on a donut doing 50 while being nearly blasted off the road every time a cruising semi blasted past doing 70.
I did some extensive testing of my project today and came to the conclusion that I'm going to have to go function over form so when it's in use it won't be half as purty as when it's idle. However, it also led me to a much better solution in terms of orientation and curb appeal (if there was a curb).

I was not kidding about the needing to stop buying clothing...found a pair of moccasin-like boots. Just the right height and super furry on the inside. It was a resale shop so only paid $12+tax.
I'm done with shoes:
- normal daily flip-flops
- goth boots
- comfy moccasin boots

My one item for the day was the beautiful strip of white long hair fur, graciously received in the mail courtesy of Ms Jella! We'll be sewing this on the bottom of the black vinyl mini skirt for the girl, then lighting it with dual strips of 3.2mm pink EL wire..

Today I picked up my repaired bike tire from the shop, then the BF lubed me up good
so I'm back on track for daily riding
Oh and I have moccasin boots (used off ebay) too, so add that to flip flops, black suede boots and sneakers. It's funny, because last year I ended up wearing these fleecy slipper things almost the whole week--you never know what you want to wear until you get there!

If you think you've overdone it, double it.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
Went to goodwill and scored a patchwork velvet vest, a crochet sweater, black short overalls, and a piece of purple carpeting for my shade structure. Less than $20.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
Hahaha, the Army Surplus store guys remember me from last year! I stared into their goggles display case for a while and realized to my great glee that they have a $4.99 smoke-colored insert for a pair of G.I. Dust goggles I already own. Fantastique! And I taught them a new phrase: "Sparkle Pony". They laughed at the definition, and--while I know they will give good advice if asked--they told me they would put the more useless fashion goggles (which don't do so much) in a new bin and mark it "Sparkle Pony Gear".
And if they hear laughter--I said--that's how they'd recognize a veteran Burner.
Also picked up 5 bandannas.

Oh no Jax! I haven't gone shopping @ Goodwill for almost a week. Now I have a yearning to venture forth and buy more clothes that I don't need. Actually I do need them. My wardrobe has dramatically improved since I started shopping there again. In the past I only looked at the electronics and books, never at the clothing. Wish I'd started in that section years ago.....Jax Dee wrote:Went to goodwill and scored a patchwork velvet vest, a crochet sweater, black short overalls, and a piece of purple carpeting for my shade structure. On a similar note, our Army Surplus has two buildings because the out grew the original one. The stupid (and by that I mean fashion only) and really old collectors goggles are on the original side. In the second building there is a lot of "biker" stuff, which is wear the good goggles are. Turns out there was another not very "biker" looking guy already goggle shopping. Turns out he's a burner.
How'd I know... I hear him mutter to him self "this-ll keep the dust out"
I replied "But will it fog up at night"
"Nope" He said, as he turned the goggles to me "Says they're fog proof lenses"
At that point, it was obvious we were both shopping for burning man goggles.
Which leads me to my item of the day, brand new goggles. I really like them because I can fit my sun glasses inside, so I don't need to carry a day and night pair, or change of lenses.
And best part about them, they wont fog up!

Have the food boxes mostly packed. Turns out my year=round sporadic shopping means I only have half a dozen items on the food shopping list.
