Relabelling standard size tubes of chapstick?
I have about a dozen standard size tubes of "chapstick" with various advertising on the labels. Thes have been collected from trade shows in the last couple months. I'd like to cover the original labelling with a label appropriate to Burningman. Has anyone done this? If so, what did you use and how did you do it?

clear packing tape would probably work well.

If they are all random companies, I don't think I'd worry about it. Hell, if my lips were chapped and somebody handed me a tube of chap stick, I'm certainly not going to not use it because of the writing on the label. (I'm sure I'll be in the minority on this, but it won't be the first time.) On the other hand, if they are all labeled the same with YOUR company, that would be a horse of a different color.

Simple solutions are sometimes the best. Clear packing tape and a "Burningman" appropriate label underneath. Thanks for the ideas.

Clear tape (shipping tape) over your own custom bit of art would work. Even if all you do is construction paper and write something funny on it, I think that would be cool. Otherwise, you may have good luck using a printer-friendly address label (find one big enough to cover the surface of the label, and you can trim to size after printing on your printer), I've seen a few of those in the past that have been done well.

We got re-labeled chapstick one year with fortune cookie style sayings on it, but they were Burn related. Hilarious.

You could always get some cheap Avery type peel and stick labels from www.onlinelabels.com. I use them all the time for business.. Super cheap and great product. Print out a few sheets and stick away!

If it would bring you joy to cover the labels, and you have time, do it. But don't leave them home if you run out of time to cover the labels, because a person badly in need of lip balm is a piteous sight.

One of my campmates brought a pile of these. I ended up with them at the end of the Burn, and had to throw them away.

Re: Relabelling standard size tubes of chapstick?
Last year I did something similar with lighters.
At work we have heat shrink cable labels.
I was gonna suggest this, but then I realized that you have to have the printer for them.... DOP!
There are also labels made by Hellerman Tyton that are on a standard 8x11 paper. They are commonly refered to as "Wrap Around Labels"
More more or less they are just bits of clear tap that, with one end that is white to be printed on.
Even easier, are Avery labels. You can find them at walmart, and you can down load the templates from Avery.com into word and excel.
Also, if you don't have Word or Excel, you can do it on the Avery.com site and then print from there. They got all sorts of pre-made stuff.
And its easy to find the "template" you need. Each type of avery label someplace says use template #####.
Oops, I really didn't mean for this to sound like a commercial for Avery labels. I just wanted to explain how easy it is.

Give it up, Illy! I've always known you were an Avery Label spammer, an infiltrator, a MOLE . . .

Re: Relabelling standard size tubes of chapstick?
Here's a suggestion for you. Cut a 20 inch (you choose your optimal length) or so piece of yarn or string and then use duct tape to attach it to the chapstick. I used a dayglo orange duck tape - and then split it down the middle so it wasn't so tall. This covers any label that might have been there and makes it into a necklace. Super handy to have chapstick on a string around my neck on days and nights out there - then I always have it readily available!
Re: Relabelling standard size tubes of chapstick?
And sharing chapstick on a string with friends can result in hilarious amounts of attention from well-intentioned LEOs.
