Place to leave car in Reno or Fernley?
Place to leave car in Reno or Fernley?
I'm driving out to NV from Colorado and then moving my gear into an RV either in Reno or Fernley to complete the journey with my CA campmates. I'm looking for a good place to leave my car during the Burn. Somewhere safe and cheap or free. Haven't found anything yet. Reno airport parking is my backup plan. Any suggestions??
Thanks!

Personally, that's exactly what I would vote for if you want guaranteed safe and secure.. but $10 a night surface parking is what I'm seeing.
As listed on this page (http://www.ifly.com/reno-tahoe-internat ... rt-Parking), many hotels will give you parking with just a one night stay. You may want to contacts The Sands, get the burner discount of $65/night (code BURN11), park there, and then have a nice place to stopover on the way back through. Just pick your one night as your return night..

Oh my god, it's HUGE!

The Sands might be a good idea, if that discount is good for Sunday (Temple Burn day) cos that's when I'll be Exodusing. And I'll want a shower for sure!
Thanks!

I've heard that people valet park at the larger casinos.
If you TELL the valet what your intentions are as you hand him his $10 tip, he will probably just smile and nod.
I'd suspect the casino would tolerate it because it at least gets you closer to their slots/tables.

Sands or Circus circus both have free parking lots, may want to look for signs regarding overnight parking. Silver legacy, Atlantis or Grand Sierra I would roll up to vallet, tell them you have a reservation later that week and need to drop the car now. A $20 bill will go pretty far with vallets these days. You have to remember its Reno and not Vegas and vallets are pretty happy to see a single washington for parking your car.

Re: Place to leave car in Reno or Fernley?
GSR is probably your best bet. You can either valet or park in general parking. I've left my car in the general lot and took the shuttle to the airport when I've had to fly out on business. A lot of my coworkers do this on a regular basis. I've never been questioned and my car was fine. Much cheaper (free
) than airport parking and GSR's lot is HUGE. The valet parking lot is adjacent to general parking. As long as you park under/near a light. Your car should be fine.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone! I've stayed at the GSR before. Using a hotel's lot sounds like a good idea =)
