Gadzooks!, ygmir... that's a score and a half.

I picked up a load of 6mm (just a smidge above 1/4") rod a few years back for something like $20. It was scrap from a local shop... a run on a shearing/bending die that was (I kid you not) 0.030" too short. My old 3/4 ton was squatting pretty good when I hauled it home. I've worked out of that pile for years. I suspect I'll leave some of it in my will.

see, and I could use that rod stock for my hanging chain railing in my Hof.........hahaha, dang.
yeah, found steel is so cool. (well to me anyway, as cool as found stone).
once, I scored a 4" dia rod stock, 15' long.....still have it, 'cause I can't think of what to do with it.
I can only imagine, being the the steel business as you are, the cool stuff at your place. *drool*.

Forge the 4" round X 15" into a 30" long tapered newel section?

Geeez ...it took forever to wade through the crap and we all know what kind to find the bar..Long day, played hookie from work fained a migrane I know shame on me. I got a bunch of stuff done that I would have put off, few gifts finished cleaned the blinkie bin and restocked batteries zip ties,duct tape etc. Even got the tail lights on the pedicab

....whew I need a drink !

We're... BACK!!!! Woohoo! Milwaukie was great, the weather was REALLY un-Portlandish, and the class was worth the week off!
