Welcome to the madness of ePlaya, Ben-no! Get ready for the ride of your life, and feel free to check out the Q&A section and Shared Resources boards, they cover a big chunk of the questions that people run into while getting ready to go to Burning Man, and if you don't see your question answered, ask! Cheers!

WOW - I would pass out if someone just told me that less than 30 days before an event like this. Awesome! Have fun, be safe, and most important BE PREPARED!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hey Ben! Glad to hear you're going with a friend. Make sure you've read the Survival Guide anyway, it lessens the work for him. :)

Bring a backpack and canteen and some electrolyte drinks, and don't booze it up too hard 'til you know how the altitude and climate will hit ya.

Welcome to the board . . .

I've already read it from front to back already. Actually this is not that bad. I'm a auto tech by trade and been working in heat just as bad. I will be bringing my tool and a few misc. Stuff just in case someone need car repair or anything. I will also have some of my building tools. So if anyone need help I'm here. I can't wait to me all of you I can. I feel like I've found my new family.

Heck, you've probably been working in heat that is worse, if it's humid where you are. :) This will be a nice break. It's just very, very dry on the playa whether it's hot or not. So even if it's not super hot, hydrate.

Bringing your tools of the trade is both smart and kind. Someone always has an auto problem out there . . .

Your right! Yesterday was 115 with the heat index and 75% hum. It sucked we been under a heat warning for over 2 weeks now. I will be drinking lot of water. I've already started only drinking 1 cup of coffee with very little sugar and water for the rest of the day.

Second that statement. Saint Louis often refers to itself as the "armpit of the nation" while we reserve New Orleans the position of "crotch of the nation". Humidity is often above 80% with temperatures over 95f. Fuckin blows, it's literally oppressive outside.

Screw that noise!
I'd be useless in that kinda heat.
I thought it was muggy here yesterday with our 20% humidity.

Welcome Ben-no and fellow Missourian (and a hello to Solito if you happen to read this....) I'm across the state from you guys in the Sweaty Butt Crack of the nation - aka Kansas City.

Anyhoo, get yerself prepared, read up, saddle up and get ready for the ride of your life!!! You'll never be the same....
If happen to be out in the 'burbs around 07:30 - 08:00 and L, look for the big red bulldog and his fellow 'attack pigeons' guarding the camp - you are more than welcome to stop by for hopefully a cold one

(oh yea - about Wednesday and the temps. On my bike of all days, ran through pockets of 113 air temp. We avg. 110 across our area - desert acclimation: check)

OK, time to get dusty!
